Seems like in the mountains you would have to wear a coat and shoes more often.  I do not enjoy either :dunno:

Little shack in Hanalei is all I need.  Nothing better than the trade winds blowing in, sun always out, wearing nothing but shorts and flip flops

Plus, very little chance of a brutal puma mauling

Would live on the beach and vacation in the mountains. Love skiing and think I would love mountain biking but I wouldn't be someone that would do them everyday. Ideally, I would live on the beach in northern California and have a lake/mountain house on Lake Tahoe that I could spend my weekends at.

On another note... think lake activities are very underrated which is why I think my scenario is the best. Jetskiing, waterskiing, etc. are all totally awesome/cool/sexy things to do.

Beaches are infested with jellyfish.

You won't find any jellyfish in the mountain.

vs.

tough call

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

qft about lakes.

another thing to consider, while pristine mountains and beaches are both great, public(overcrowded) beaches pale in comparison to public mountain rec areas.

Half the people in Colorado are ex-Californians escaping the horribleness of the oceans to retreat in the amazing mountains.

The problem w/ this argument is that California has over double the population of Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, and New Mexico combined.

SD,

Most public mountain rec areas are overcrowded during the winter but are still awesome.  In the spring, summer and fall they are not crowded at all and have an even wider variety of activities than in the winter.  Plus most mountains have lakes near by which you can do nearly any beach activity on except surfing.

Simply Put.....

Top shelf Beaches/ Top Shelf Mountain areas :
Lower Grade beaches:  :jerk:

Lower Grade Mountain areas:

yeah man, this is exactly it. go to my home town and tell that to all the professionals that are 7 or 8 sport athletes, who after a century or doing a day of backcountry skiing go out to the bar.

beach life is far less intensive than mountain life. its not even a question.

lol at calling backcountry skiing a sport. go hop in your subaru and head to the local watering hole and mellow out.
