in reality, the columnist's argument could have merit. but it's a no-win situation for the columnist to publish this particular opinion. because months later, when the columnist's previous opinions are validated, the fans then say, "hold oscar's feet to the fire and call out this fraud team!"

Is this happening?

is what happening? is the columnist ever right? or is the columnist being artificially uninteresting because he/she knows that nothing good comes from being negative or opinionated?

eh, good question. i know it happened in year 3 of the prince era, but it seemed like k-state fans were closer to beat writers at that particular time. j mart was influenced by what people were writing on forums, at least to some extent, and fans regularly connected w/ meek and manbeck after he left.

these days, the sentiment is there (everyone at this forum would love to hear oscar answer hard questions), but you no longer feel like you have a writer who cares enough to ask the questions you want answered.

it feels like the reverse of your earlier situation.  the media figures would push back on the fans for wanting tougher questions and being negative about the program.

I think you could ask oscar interesting questions in a way that wouldn't make him feel threatened/put on the spot and have him reduce access. Not sure if you could do that with Bill, though. Of course, I don't think you'd gain anything from a one-on-one with Bill so whatever.

i'm fairly certain that goEMAW could slop together a blog and become the most interesting, most informative k-state site despite having no access to the teams.

the story that almost no writers write, particularly those who cover college sports teams, is "how difficult is it to win?"

i think this is a very interesting story, regardless of sport, regardless of team.

I was pretty much the blog writer and this year I just made those posts as threads. I will probably try to go back to the blog more next year starting with football. I'm not a great writer though, I just like to do stuff with the numbers.

If anyone else wants make a blog post I would encourage them to do so.  It might be a bit of a fight to get it past the approval process that corporate has set up, but if it's good stuff I will back it to the board.

despite harrison apologizing to kaminsky, i still think his "f that n----" was directed at the reporter asking the question, and there seems to be plenty who think the same - including several media folks.

That press conference was a joke, the questions were embarrassing

i'm super busy during hoops season, but if former scribe levi would help, i'd cover k-state hoops from afar for goEMAW next year.

would definitely have to scale back on the devil's advoraking though.  :frown:
