So Delton will red shirt next year and start his rsSoph year. Yes?

Who knows, man.   That's a long way away.  If that happens, that probably means we're pretty solid at QB for the foreseeable future.

Being the all time Iowa TD record holder, he was dubbed Jesse Touchdown a long time ago.

Can't really ask for a better nickname.   I just like my studs to have some backup nicknames.

early on i would have called ok_cat a dumbass, but the more this thread progressed, the more i was like, this is actually a pretty good thread.  i plan on rewatching the game today because i support the cats and was there, but matt millen is probably the worst football person on planet earth.  so may watch on mute but may just listen to confirm my stance.

Burns pulling away from allegedly superior athletes was pretty great.

It's pretty lazy to stick with the schtick that all of our players are inferior athletes who play assignment sound football to compensate. We have high level players, it just doesn't fit the tired dialogue of the last 2 decades, so we get dumbassery instead.

low snaps all game long was the most annoying part of the game.  that and OSU's first drive.

I couldn't figure out if that had something to do with the ball being harder due to the cold or if something was wrong with Finney. If 2013 Waters was back there it would have been a nightmare.

I can't remember that many low snaps in one game for a long time. It was really strange. The 2nd quarter offense was really annoying too, we didn't get into any rhythm and looked like we were going threw the motions up 21-7.

i'm sure this will turn into "quit bashing jake" thread, but some of Jake's throws once up 21-7 (even with all the time in the world) were just terrible.  And I think Lockett had a drop (or two) which continues to baffle me.

No, he seems to have periods in games where he looks like he's trying to throw bounce passes.

Jake has about a 66% completion percentage, but a large percentage of those misses are awful throws.  He also tends to group his bad throws into the same drives.

This leads to some bad three and outs, but the fact that he tends to string together nice throws in bunches leads to a lot of the extended scoring drives we see.

It's just who he is.  He's a rhythm guy.

Jake's crap throws don't hurt us against terrible teams...will be interesting to see if they are noticed more in the next couple of games when our opponents have a pulse

Plus other than those kinds of errant throws, he is making very few mistakes. Granted, he made one really bad one yesterday when he didn't recognize OSU dropping into the old Tampa 2 with their MLB deep in coverage, but got bailed out by a roughing penalty. Other than that, the good thing is his misses aren't generally throws that are going to get picked off.

Also of note yesterday was a really good special teams performance, especially on coverage, but also Burns' big return. OSU's strength had been special teams this season and we held them in check.

It was good to see that Burns finally realized the he has speed and the direction of the endzone he's supposed to run towards.  I also enjoyed our HCIW yelling at our punter for taking too long.
