What do you think of when you think of the state of Alabama?

Great vacation in Alabama.

This looks like it might be decent.

In other words, the only way Alabama is even remotely tolerable is to go to a part of the state that doesn't look like the rest of the state and also there are no native Alabamites walking around.

One thing Alabama had going for it was that I just finished a 4 hour drive thru MS.  I think Baghdad would be a welcomed destination after spending any amount of time in MS.

Gulf Shores is nice, but I would have to recommend Destin, in FL for a destination. It isn't too much farther down the panhandle, and I have been going there for about 20 years.

Destin is too crowded for me.  I prefer the private beach we had in Ft Morgan.

Totally understand, I tend to go in "off season" myself because I am more interested in the fishing than laying about on a beach. Ft. Morgan is definitely nice.
