The US loses hundreds of millions of tax dollars to Canada because they're shitty system is actually now less shitty than our shitty system, and you mongoloids turn this into a misinformation fest on presidents' down time.

The only thing I've garnered out of this thread is that Dugout has surpassed Edna as the worst pit poster and michigancat still really like to hear himself post.

I've really enjoyed this temper tantrum from our right sector.

What I really enjoy as the first hint of perceived slight, the usual suspects swoop in to re-direct, point fingers elsewhere, claim "that's always how it's been", and the usual "well so and so did (insert whatever it was or is) as well".

It's really fantastic.   Vigilance and zeal I tell ya.

I would golf all the time if I was president. That's one of the worst jobs ever.

The golfing presidents are better than me.  I would just drink a lot and watch arrested development.

I would go visit sick people and make their day. You know, actually use my political office to make the world a better place.

I'm sure your little pow wows with sick people would fix all the worlds problems

Where did I say any of the world's problems would be fixed?

The Pit should probably be moderated by a two party system, I nominate k-s-u wildcats and michigancat to be pit mods. good luck.

we're practically identical, we just disagree from time to time.

If I agree to become a moderator, do I get access to the premium football content, or only pit premium?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

But this isn't Jackie-O jetting off with a few friends and couple of secret service guys in 1962.   Even if a significant portion of these trips is paid for out of pocket (but even that's up for debate as FOIA requests are either just now being responded to, or pending), we live in a post 9-11 world and the security detail and all that goes with it is very expensive.   The Spain trip cost nearly $500K of taxpayer money for security detail, the Air Force Jet and housing the crew and the like.   In a post 9-11 world it's much harder to get that information, and suffice it to say it's 1A:  Security Concerns.  1B:  Political image concerns.

The information on many other trips has proven very difficult to ascertain, but if estimates on the cost of pre 9-11 trips to the same places are carried forward to relative costs in 2014.    It's costing a ton.

yeah, having a president in our current system is expensive

It shouldn't cost so much - that's the problem. What really grinds my gears is when the Prez flies AF1 all over the country on the taxpayer dime to attend fundraisers, and justifies it by making a token appearance at a factory, hospital, etc.

I think we ought to limit the presidency to one term and not allow the president to attend fundraisers, period. We elect him to do a job, not spend a crap ton of taxpayer money feathering his own nest and those of his party cronies.
One term and pay them $10MM per year. That would be a hell of a lot cheaper than having to follow them all around the country for fundraisers!

First off, I want to thank cRusty for the link to youngcons in another thread.   While I'm not really down with everything they talk about, I did find some stuff interesting, and I want to thank one of our resident, dare I say, left coast progressive posters for that link.

I don't really have much of a problem with Obama going golfing after the beheading announcement, I mean, the guy is pure political comedy most of the time, so why stop now?

But I do have a problem with who he was golfing with.   Big time Washington lobbyist, big time investment firm guy (just out of a big lawsuit).   Goodness, I know bizness is bizness, but I never would have thought the same guy who told he's not going to have any of those lobbyist and insider types in his administration (it's actually filled with former lobbyists) who is now out their bumpin fists with these "bad people".

We used to go to one in Upstate NY when I traveled there to work for a time.  It's really no different than a generic Dunkin' Donuts (which in and of itself isn't all it's cracked up to be).

It's like how people in the NE can't live without Dunkin', but all over the whole country.  It's so weird.
