idk what you guys use to listen to podcasts but mine has a +15 seconds button that you can just hammer away at until you hear the person's tone change to something that sounds like a real subject is being discussed

If I'm working, driving, or whatever, the last thing I should have to do is hammer away on a button cause the host wants to talk for 15 minutes about their weekend, if your podcast is supposed to be about a subject, jump in. Best podcasts are the ones you don't need to do anything to

the newsie one is one of my faves and has been mentioned.  the egg war is maybe the hardest I've laughed at any at parts.  The dolphin is an early classic.

I haven't listened but I am hoping the abbie hoffman ones are good, because there is a ton of material there.

I liked the John Delorean one.  Any of the rich family ones or company ones are good.

I listen to it going to bed.

So I set an hour sleep timer and then have to rewind until I remember the next night.

Takes forever

30 - 45 minutes is about the right length for a podcast episode.

Interesting discussion about the implications of the Allies demands for "unconditional surrender" at the start of this episode. This demand ensured that the Axis would fight on to the bitter end - but on the other hand the Allies didn't feel that they could let the Axis end the war on their own terms. He keeps talking about "human lawn mower"... I'm gonna finish it but like I've said before I think the WW1 series and Ghosts of the Ostfront were both better.

I generally prefer 1-1.5 hrs on 1.2x. I feel like 30 minutes is really short?  I’m looking forward to listening to the latest HH on the drive back to Kansas for the 4th if I can wait that long.

It is a good reminder that I need to go back and reread WITH THE OLD BREED by Eugene Sledge. Third best war memoir I’ve read  (behind THE THINGS THE CARRIED and THE SORROW OF WAR).

I listened to the Khan series last week on a long drive, and enjoyed it.  I then listened to the first two episodes of the WW2 "Ghosts of the Ostfront" and it was great...the Eastern front war between Germany and Russia.  Holy crap I knew that it was a brutal deal, but the size, callus disregard for life, and outright evil of the thing was amazing.

Tough to find more brutal human conflicts than the eastern front. Horrible conditions esp for civilians who were unlucky enough to be caught in the battlescape.

I'm about halfway thru this last episode of Supernova in the East and I'm liking it more than the earlier episodes. Talking about Iwo Jima, currently.

Finished Supernova in the East while I was mowing the yard yest.

At the end of the 'cast, Dan mentioned that he has been involved with creating the immersive WW1 experience at the National WW1 Museum / Liberty Memorial in Kansas City. Has anybody gone through this since they installed this? Dan says there are massive speakers that make it feel like you are living thru an artillery barrage on the Western Front. It has been about 10 years or so since I went thru the museum. Sounds like I may need to go back.
