Since we're talking about fast food burgers, I will throw this out there... In 'N' Out Burger has to be the most overrated restaurant known to man. I ate there twice over Spring Break and both times was horribly underwhelmed. First time I didn't try anything unique with my burger or fries and left disappointed so I went back and got both my fries and burger done animal style. Again, left disappointed. Anyone care to explain the hype for this place?
As far as Mexican in Manhattan goes...
From best to worst:
1. Cocobolos - probably not very authentic at all (I wouldn't know) but I love the Tijuana Trainwreck, Stacked Enchiladas and the Evil Desert Chicken
2. Hillside - been a few times and thought it seemed fairly authentic but again, I wouldn't know. No free chips and salsa which is pretty lame but the food was cheap. I thought that the tamales they serve on Fridays were good.
3. La Fiesta - pretty bland food but the salsa is ok and everybody just loves their "atmosphere." The only thing I'll usually get here are the Fajita Nachos which are actually pretty good.
4. Los Potrillos - been once, thought it was pretty similar to La Fiesta but had even worse atmosphere and the salsa wasn't very good, although I did appreciate that it was spicier than your average Mexican place in town.
5. Los Cocos - went once, hated it. Bad food and terrible service. Probably won't ever go again. I also thought El Caz was pretty mediocre considering all of the love it got.
6. Carlos O'Kellys -
