So I'm having shoulder surgery tomorrow to fix my rotator cuff. Any of you dudes been through that?  Any advice?   I'm drinking heavily tonight to prepare.

Not shoulder but lots of knees. Milk the liquid morphine and save your pills for after your out of the hospital.

Surgeries suck btw  :frown:

i'm no expert but doctor's usually give you list of stuff not to eat and drink before surgery and alcohol is probably on that list.

brother had rotator cuff surgery in high school and dad just underwent it 2 weeks ago.  you can probably expect 6-12 months or rehab.  don't shoot the messenger.

I had it in 2008. My advice? Do every little thing your physical therapist says, and do extra if you can, even if it sucks. Your future shoulder will thank you.

I was told to stop eating and drinking at midnight the night before I had my hernia repaired. I blacked out around 12:30 and continued partying until sometime around 3:00 am. My surgery was at 9:00 am. My roommate drove me to the hospital and I lost consciousness right as the nurse began to prep me for the incision. I was not awake long enough the next day for my hangover to set in, which was rough ridin' awesome.

While I was in surgery, my dad went to my house to get some things for me, since I was going to be staying with them for a few days. He walked in to find my guest from the night before still sleeping in the bed. I still can't believe he never said anything to my mother.

I watched Flood Aggie beat Okie Lite that night in a drug addled haze and suffered through the CTR the next night without meds. What an awful game to watch after a surgery. I put myself through a lot of pain that night.

My friends and relatives in the medical field tell me that I'm incredibly dumb and something awful could of happened during the surgery (the drinking till 3 am thing), but I am alright. It's still a sore subject with my parents.

Also, good luck, friend. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

morphine is worth dying for.

Took a fast ball to the nose when I was 16. Surgery went well. Meds were awesome!
