I'd rather starve than eat "mexican" "food" from Kites/Rusty's.

You need to open up to change bud, that food is actually pretty excellent.  It isn't some college flunkies trying to make tacos like at Kites or Tubbys or Porters. . .it is an actual family run kitchen and is on par with other Manhattan authentic mexican.

I ate at an authentic texas steak and dinner roll house tonight (even had texas in the name  ). Was really authentic and tasty

Well, when referring to pretty much anything culturally relevant, the KC Metro is likely going to beat any other pud town in KS. And Snow Creek, bro. Best skiing between CO and the Mississippi.

Tacos El Mexicano is a very good authentic joint off of California in Topeka.  You know how I know it's authentic, you get that wtf look when you walk in, they have glass bottles of mexican coca cola, they don't wear gloves when they prepare your food.

While I love the Anchor, mentioning I was from Hutchinson was more about the little places in South Hutch especially the ladies that provide the delicious mexican food during bingo nights at Our Lady of Guadalupe.

I'm not sure about quality, but SW Kansas definitely has the authenticity.  I've never eaten Mexican in KC, so I truly don't have a comparison, but you can't throw a rock without hitting a delicious Mexican restaurant in certain parts of Garden City.

All that aside if you don't try Rusty's Mexican food at least once you are doing yourself a disservice.  And if you are in MHK and are looking to eat Mexican then go get super PAKd with your buds. . .it makes sense to eat there then hit the Ville.  No one will argue that Lucha is hands above better. . .but it is small and often packed.  Fuzzys is alright, but I'm a large proponent for keeping my money local as often as possible.
