Does something bad happen to his wife?  Like I feel bad for her.  She seems like a nice person.

She is a total $!#* and deserves all that she gets.

Not at the beginning of the show.

SPOILER:
By the time fat Betty started rearing her head, though, yeah . . .

True, although I'd argue it happened before that. Maybe mid-S2 or S3.

Rehab Addict in DIY. Nicole Curtis is splendid.

Michigancat, I want you to try Parenthood one more time. I just don't understand why you don't like it. It's so adorable.

my wife still watches it, I still hate it. I hate it because I don't like any of the characters. I don't like anything they do. I don't like the decisions they make. I don't like the way they talk. I don't like the look on their stupid faces.

I just had a conversation with Mrs. Jakesie that made me realize why I don't like Parenthood at all and why I love Friday Night Lights. I'm more forgiving of  high school students making mistakes than I am parents making mistakes to the degree that they do in Parenthood. Like, 16-18 year olds are making mistakes to the same severity that 30-40 year olds, yet we're supposed to be okay with that in Parenthood. Nope, not me. FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS ALL THE WAY, BA-BAY!!!

duck dynasty is heavily scripted (just an FYI for those of you living in fantasy land)

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

She does seem like the real deal. The rest of the "contractor" hosts on HGTV are never dirty and there's always numerous people in the background that appear to be doing 99% of the work. Then I read this interview with the Property Brothers.

but the adults make mistakes in FNL, too. Buddy Garrity, the racist assistant coach both probably made mistakes as bad or worse than anything done on Parenthood. But Buddy Garrity was so great at defending his daughter, and racist assistant totally redeemed himself when the cop pulled the bus over, so I don't hate them. I don't think anyone on Parenthood ever does anything nice.

Been watching House of Cards on Netflix.  Its so close to being really good, but just not there.  Not much of an overarching storyline and most conflict is resolved in each episode.  Spacey is good, but the talking directly to the camera crap just screams of not taking time to develop characters.

Ready to watch my zombie porn (TWD) in a week.  I'm not too enthralled by the characters (they're almost all Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) and most of their actions are just inexplicable) or even most of the events, but I find the setting to be pretty awesome.  The writers/director are really good at evoking a sense of dread and just a completely bleak, hopeless landscape and I love it.

They pretty much suck at everything else, but I'm really only using this is a stopgap before Mad Men starts up again

That is one of the worst descriptions of The Walking Dead I have ever read. Mostly because pretty much everything about it is wrong.

I'm interested in how they do the second season. The arc was quite different from the shows it's supposed to be competing against. Spacey is amazing, as usual, but I feel like him breaking the fourth wall is a gimmick since it doesn't really move the story forward, rather he's explaining his actions. The people interested in the series don't need his actions explained.

Depending on where he is, I think it's pretty spot on. Even now the only character I really care for is Rick, and that's only because of the end of s3e3. None of the characters outside of the Governor and Michonne are very interesting, and they're even screwing up Michonne. The facts about her and her history are really interesting, but she doesn't act in a way that makes me really interested in her.

The only thing I watch it for are the atmosphere that they create, and the moral dilemmas that they put the viewers in. I've never seen a show do so well at creating a world in which morality is uncertain, and you often don't know if the characters did the morally correct thing or not.

Show me an intelligent, rational, well-written (or hell, even consistently-written) character with depth and multiple dimensions on that show and then we can talk.

They're all dumpster fires.  The only ones I can be assed to care about at all are Rick and Carl, and the only other one that's even remotely interesting is the Governor.  Micchone was supposed to be cool, from what my comic book nerd fellows tell me, but they ruined her by telling us absolutely nothing about her and having her just scowl at everyone all the rough ridin' time.

Atmosphere=great, and the show itself is occasionally brilliant.  The episode with the shootout in the bar was rough ridin' awesome.  The characters are forgettable and I don't really care what happens to most of them.

I actually think TWD is a story about hope, even when all is hopeless.  I actually thought (season 1) it was going to be full of political commentary but they've avoided it or veiled it enough it's not overly obvious and obnoxious.
