The way you tear down The Wire reminds me of J-Dub tearing down non-Elway QBs. You're so threatened that there could be a show better than Breaking Bad that you feel the need to tear it apart.

I honestly went into The Wire trying to like it. Part of my problem is that everyone compared it to Breaking Bad, which we all know is a completely ludicrous thing to do. I watched the first season and didn't think much of it. Someone convinced me to watch the second. After months of convincing, I gave it a shot. And low and behold it wasn't good either. Then everyone admitted that they didn't really like season 2, but I should keep going. Once I got into a lull of the other TV shows I was watching, I tried season 3. Not bad, but nowhere near Breaking Bad level like it had been talked up. The worst thing about The Wire is that the characters that are on screen all the time are terrible. McNulty is the least interesting main character of all time. The characters I cared about made an appearance about once every 2-3 episodes.

I watch tons of garbage (The Wire, Walking Dead, Dexter), but thanks to sticking with one of those all the way to the end, I learned to call it quits when a show takes a turn for the worse.

hmm - hadn't really heard / sought out anything that gave me BB comparos before, but i probably wouldn't have thought much of it anyways since The Wire was basically done before the first episode of BB ever aired.  this sounds pretty similar to my experience with mad men though, which i personally can't stand even though i tried pressing through it.  i've found all the characters through the first 1.5 seasons so far very interesting myself.  thanks for sharing #1cat

saw that, we just binged on HoC last week as we were both off work all week.   I was a little disappoint in F.U.'s involvement in the garage mishap though.    I wanted to root for him, now I'm torn.
