Where did the doom go?

In my six years as a student and two years as a young alumni I have become increasingly disappointed with our student section.  I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were about the lackadaisical attitude of our student section? How do we fire up the students so the Octagon is at the right level of doom?

I'm in my sixth year sitting in or near the front row of ICat and eighth year in a row in the student section.  I hate when I turn to look and the first thirty rows aren't even yelling.

I got two degrees and spent a semester abroad where nothing transferred. . .annnd I enjoyed Aggieville.  But above all, I love KSU athletics.  I just don't have a good perspective on the student section now as relative to the pre-huggins era.

I remember thinking as a student "shouldn't that guy have graduated by now??" and then last night when I watched the game I was like "omg its him again. is that guy on his 6th phd?!"

You aren't a better fan than anyone else.  I haven't been to a basketball game all year and I almost never yell and I'm a way better fan than you.

I would like to clarify that I don't think I am a better fan.  I love emawnation and would never seek to place myself above any of my fellow fans.  I just remember when the octagon was rocking and lately feel like the doom is gone.  Maybe I'm wrong.  But it hurts when oscar makes comments about how quiet the crowd is.  Or when he told the guys that after Northern Colorado they shouldn't expect many fans for awhile.  That's bogus.  Our fans should show up loud and proud to every game.

This season is hard to judge yet. Tech was the first game with students back, and I don't blame them for not getting real excited for that one. Them we had Ole Miss, but that was still when we weren't sure what this team was. I'm sure games like Texas and KU will have great crowds.

You're right in that.  I just wish that there wasn't a bandwagon type feel to the student crowd.  I think the athletics department is still banging their heads against the wall on how to get KSU students excited for the bball non-con.

Is always been this way. Very few fans are diehards.
