not trying to argue that food inspectors & food safety regs are the only, or even the most salient causes of the lack of street food and lack of good cheap food in the us. obviously, pop. density is by far the most important. just arguing that they don't help.
haven't really argued it, but would also argue that they aren't necessary (no tragedy of commons, no massive disparity in capital, scale, information between producers/consumers, etc.).
