Are our receivers dogshit? I mean, waters has been holding forever. Is he an unconfident loser? Gotta be one or the other, right?
We didn't adjust well and I think the early long throw to Lockett played into this.
ISU decided that they were going to roll the dice, load the box, and play man on our receivers with only 1 deep saftey most of the time. We burned them early then nearly burned them again on the 2nd drive when Waters missed Lockett.
As a result I think we thought we can throw on these guys all day, but ISU (until the final drive) took away Lockett and our other receivers couldn't get separation. Also, Jake didn't have the checkdowns like last week because we kept RBs in for extra protection. Also, when we got down inside the redzone we insisted on throwing the ball even though we were still running for chunks against ISU's defense stacking the box. Then we start making mistakes (false starts) and our defense absolutely implodes.
There is no reason we should not have been up 21-0 or 17-0. Once ISU grabbed momentum we were in a dogfight.
