seems pretty dumb to think that snyder doesn't know how to use waters
Gonna agree with the clams here.  In fact, I think Waters is getting almost every ounce of potential production squeezed from him by Snyder.   I don't think Waters would be nearly as successful on any other Big 12 team.

He does now.  I should have changed the wording there.

He stopped doing the speed option for the most part, cranked down the QB Power Leads.  We know what works for him now and what really doesn't.

It was pretty clear that we didn't really know what we wanted to do with him up until the WVU game last year.

Jake can't pass Klein, Bishop, or Ell, because all of those guys had 2 terrific seasons. We finished the regular season 7-5 last year.

Beasley had an amazing pair of seasons, too.

This is an extremely fair point when comparing Waters to those guys. I'm saying that IF Waters gets K-State to the CFB playoff he'll be remembered up with those guys.

Klein was a great quarterback based almost solely on his massive number of hit points

A lot of Waters haterz on here already freaking out where he'll leave his legacy. They might faint if he made a playoff run.

Jake is not going to make any amazing runs like El or Michael. He is never going to truck someone like Collin. He has begun to read the defense and the running lanes better to pick up large chunks running the ball. MiR has it right.

Gonna win 'em all!

I don't get the perception that he is not a good runner. Jake has broken a 50+ yard run in each of the last two games. His 40 time is around 4.6 which is fast for a QB.
Jake is not an electrifying runner. He made a good/great read in that play and blew it up for 50 yards. I am referring to some if the crazy runs that Ell made or the battering ram runs that Klein made. Not saying Jake can't run, it is just the style of the run. Make sense?

I stand by my overarching evaluation of Jake.

Not always pretty, but pretty damn good.

I will remember Jake fondly, barring a complete collapse this year. Getting into the CFB playoff would make me think of him as our 4th best QB. Getting to the title game would make me think of him as the best. I'd have to rank him 5th at best if we don't make the playoff, though. Probably 6th.

He's not a fluid athlete, but he's got adequate speed and runs effectively.

He doesn't always throw a pretty ball, but he's a very effective thrower.

He's got that Ioway residue.

I do think he's got as good a grasp on Snyder's offense as any K-State QB, and probably has the freedom to check more than about anyone else.

Really, if there was a poster child for a KSTATE0 QB, it would probably be Waters.

As long as he leads an efficient offense and we're winning games its all good to me.

I'm glad that we're fortunate enough to call a stud like Jake Waters only the 5th or 6th best QB of the past 25 years.  :Carl:

Jake is a rich man's Matt Miller - both can run and throw at average to above average level and Jake is a little faster and maybe has a slightly stronger arm.  Miller went 9-2 as a senior, going 1-2 vs the top 3 teams in conference by beating #9 KU and losing to #5 CU and #1 NU.  I can totally see Jake matching that performance by with the OU win = Miller's KU win and losses to TCU and BU.

Miller is in the middle my Cat QB Top 10 and that is where I would guess Jake ends up.  If this season plays out like I think it will, I would put Jake right above Miller as he would of done it with inferior WRs and against a slightly tougher schedule.

Guys that could carry a team
1. Bishop
2. Ell
3. CK

Gamest of Gamemanagers
4. Beasley
5. Miller

1-D Pocket Passers
6. May
7. Freems
8. Kavs

Because I want to have Top 10
9.  GG
10. CCQ

Jake is a top 5 all time QB talent.  His first full season as the defacto starting QB and he is putting up all-time numbers.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.
