Last night I watched a documentary on KCPT about the reintroduction of wolves to the US. There was a scene where a big truck was hauling wolves into Yellowstone Park through the North Gate, this one...
The reintroduction was and still is very controversial. I fantasized being a Montana rancher, full of emotion at the scene, and standing in the way of the truck like that Chinese guy did at Tiananmen Square. Obviously I'd be arrested and forced to pay a fine, but I bet I could drink for free for the rest of my life. It would also make for some iconic photography and symbolism over the entire ordeal. Someone could have defined their entire life had they done that at the time. It was a missed opportunity for sure. Anyway, I hope I (and you all) don't miss my (your) opportunity like these folks did.
