good lord, shut up
Good lord, everyone else shut up. You guys are the ones crying about someone getting hurt during an entertaining skit that requires physical contact.
That isn't the point, you rough ridin' moron. First of all the willie skit or and other skit don't require someone getting speared. No one is advocating for the removal of all skits, just one that doesn't require someone to be maimed. Who rough ridin' cares if he volunteered to get hit, you think it is a good idea for the university to allow that massive liability risk to continue? There are lots of stupid things people would volunteer to do that wouldn't be a good idea for the school to showcase at midfield of a football game.
I also find it hilarious that these two morons are calling those of us that were actually there to see it soft because we were affected by thinking we were seeing a kid die in front of our faces. No one is impressed by your moronic false bravado, most people who chime in with that bullshit are giant pussies.
It was an accident, there were no victims; if this event shows anything, it's that future participants should be required to sign a liability waiver with an understanding that they know the risks they are taking.
Whatever.
If people want to do crazy crap - they're welcome to. I'm not even involving myself in this discussion for the purpose of disclosing who is being a pussy or not. I just think it's absurd when people think they know what's best for other people.
I don't know a rough ridin' thing about you MIR or anyone else here. But if someone needs to get their rocks off by being speared on the 50 yard line in front of 50,000 people. Who the eff cares?
Now, if someone would like to continue this discussion under the correct observation that this kid was not forced by the university, (or falsely led to believe he could not be injured), I'm all ears. But stop suggesting this kid was a victim.
What are you guys doing at a football game if you get all emotional while watching an 18-21 year old kids putting themselves in position to potentially lay on a field dying in front of 50,000 people? It's a contact sport - people die. You might see it sometime and it will be tragic, but it the natural consequence of playing contact sports and subsequently watching them.
