Keep hearing buzz that it will be "world class", and will allow ku to host NCAA regional and national events.  Budget for the complex sounds more "Butler building" and "high school" than "world class".

I've read several things recently that make me realize a lot these KU fans actually have no idea what an endowment is.  They honestly seem to think they can just pull the money from the endowment to redo their football stadium.

This has been a bad troll job IMO.  The document that these hayseeds are talking about shows a 5 year facility plan that was presented to the KBOR back in mid 2011 (hence why it was labeled "FY2011") WHEN ZENGER WAS NOT EVEN AD AT KU YET.  Not only did this document say KU was planning on renovating Memorial Stadium in 2017 at only $50M total, but it also stated that KU was not going to start building the new business school until 2015 and it doesn't mention anything about the new Rules of Basketball addition to AFH.  Funny thing is....we already broke ground on the new business school and will break ground on the new BBall rules building next year.  Heck, we didn't even have the first phase of AFH renovations on the prior list until after it was publicly announced.  What these sheephumpers don't seem to get is that this 5 year plan is 2-3 years old and has not been updated by KU.  These "plans" or "budgets" get updated/modified all the time.  Zenger has stated over and over that renovating Memorial is priority #1 on his list and will begin shortly after RCP is completed.  It doesn't matter what the KUAD presents to the KBOR right now since they can update/modify these "plans" whenever they feel so.  I wouldn't be surprised if these plans weren't updated until after the plans/renderings are released (rumored to be shortly after bball season).

On the flip side, ksu's $87M renovation to BSFS was not on their plan until the renovation plans were finalized and announced, and the most current plan still doesn't include all of the new plans that all these hayseeds are j!zzing their pants over (new Vanier, practice facility, etc...which are all very doubtful).  If ksu can't raise more than 25% of the $87M total price tag for phase 1 of renovations, there is no way a poor, WT school like ksu can raise another $50M.  ksu is already swimming in debt.  Curry will be putting ksu is a serious financial bind, but he won't care because he will be long gone from Silo-Tech.

Lets see, I got "hayseed", "sheephumper", and "Silo-Tech" in 1 post about ksu fans.  Am I missing any others?

bolded was my fave part

Wait, why are they building projects that weren't on their 5 yr plan?  I mean, it seems like a good idea to stick to the plan that you submit to the ppl who approve such things.

This is sounding like there may be more to the issue than them being low on funds and wanting to make sure their area-high-school-partnered park project gets finished.  It sounds like they may have had some bad planning and execution issues on what to build and when.

Wow, the Five Year Facilities Plan that will be presented at the next Regents meeting was updated on 11/1/2013.

ku athletics as of the end of FY 2012 still had nearly $50 million dollars in outstanding debt, and according to the NCAA financial disclosure for that year their unrestricted funds balance was in the hole to the tune of millions of dollars.

NCAA Financial Disclosure Report 2012-ku:  Statement of Revenues/Expenses:  Excesses (deficiencies) (-$8.7445 million)

Section 11.3.2.4.16 (f): The athletics department fiscal year unrestricted funds balance: -$4.389 million

Plus, let's not kid ourselves here.  K-State athletics has reduced support directly from the school down to zero in FY 2013 and under $1 million in fees.   Meanwhile ku athletics needs every dime in the millions they receive in direct/student fees institutional support every year from Strong Hall, nearly $3 million in FY 2012.

If I were KSU, I'd continue to pour every effort and resource into a football stadium.  Use their little endowment up, issues bonds, go into debt....... whatever it takes.  Use that football program  to attact every C minus high school kid West of Topeka that would normally be a candidate for one of the many the Kansas Jucos to pump up their enrollment.

I don't see East German style Pillbox in any of those plans.  History awaits for the East side of their stadium I suppose.

I thought it was all K-State fans west of Topeka.  Surprised they need the po-dunk western Kansas radio listing.

On a related note, Butler County CC built a new football stadium.   Maybe KU can go halvsies with JCCC?

JCCC should just build it and rent it out to KU.
