I have watched KU football since the 70s and fans on here who continue to bitch and moan and call for Charlie's head are why there is no program. Suck it up and let Charlie recruit and build a program. But "ooooh I am embarrassed at work by the Mizzou or KSU fans..." Boo boo.... Suck it up. Gill killed this ****** program and now Charlie needs to rebuild it fro. The ground up. Is he a cocky, fat sob, yes, but he can recruit and with zenger we will eventually have a remodeled stadium and a team who can fill it. Be patient or watch us continue to struggle forever. I have refined myself to believing that it is now or never.

Had mangino's witch hunt not happened, KU would have won some more conference games in his last year. Gill was an abortion from the get go and was hired because he was a successful player, socially acceptable and a milk toast. He had prove nothing at Buffalo and had been turned down on multiple occasions to coach in Nebraska. Had Mangino never been fired we would be a serviceable big 12 team averaging five or six wins the season. We would be the Vanderbilt of the big 12.

It is 24 games now since last we won a conference game, and essentially a woeful history with intermittent bright spots before that. Relative to most other run-of-the-mill Purdue-like BCS programs we are awful and the standard line of thinking is that "well, they are a basketball school.." So, are there enough ***** given at large that this will become unacceptable and will there be a powerful enough impetus to turn this around? I am a KU alumnus, but I did not grow up there and have been initially shocked then dejected by the apparent lack of interest over what is at the end of the day OUR football program as KU people. The U of Iowa would not stand for this ****. I am not talking about firing Weis, I am talking much more broadly and more about the roots and essence of our program.. do we as a university and its following have what it takes to field a competitive BCS football program and sustain it over time? I am beginning to beomce discouraged. Youve got thousands of people waiting to see a basketball practice giddy because of a kid who will be at the university from August to May 2013.. and yet our football program which could well be of existential importance to our future as an athletic department gets the knowing shrug and smile.

 As far as the fans go, KU fans are no different than any other fanbase in the country at schools not name Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, etc. Win and they show up. People went to the scrimmage because there was a damn good product to see (for free). People give the "shrug and smile" because the product is hullabaloo. There are less than 10 football programs in the country who would have had solid attendance the last 3 years with the teams we've fielded.
