Giving up 300 yards rushing in one half is bad right?

Their pain has spread to ShaggyBevo.  Fortunately, they can always just crack open the endowment since it works that way.

Everyone knows we have to upgrade but with the AD and his decision making the boosters aren't putting up the cash. His presser a few weeks ago basically said he can't find the stakeholders. Ku might have to break into that $2billion dollar endowment that they don't soend on anything in order to find some support.

We are truly about to enter into a "if you build it we hope they come" scenario there.

Or we need an under armor type guy to come along.

They won't upgrade because the KU alumni that have money either don't give a crap about football or they give it all to basketball.

They can blame it on the various AD's, presidents, coaches, or whoever, but they have not, and will not, make that kind of investment because KU Basketball will demand it's pound of flesh first.

Can you imagine KU putting forward $160 million towards a football stadium like we have?  Of course they wouldn't.  If they could actually generate that kind of capital for these kinds of projects, which they never have, a huge chunk would go to something inside or affixed to AFH.

I mean honestly, why would you ever invest that money?  their fanbase has shown they dont care about football at all.  basic business 101 class says dont ever do it, even if someone had the money, there is absolutely no incentive to ever do it.

The question is whether their bball brand is enough to stay in a power conference like the Big 12. They need to care for that reason. Do you think our contract with Fox would be any better at all if we were a 9 team conference without KU? I doubt it.

I was actually surprised two 3-7 Big 12 teams were on FS1 instead of the regional FS network today until I realized that the KU game was already occupying that slot.

their basketball only doesnt warrant them remaining in a power conference without some semblance of a football program, if there is a shake up.  there is a reason the big east as it once was was raided for the schools that could at least field a team.  the other schools are basketball only now, even if some have a football team.  basketball alone can not and will never be able to sustain an entire AD to make all the other sports worth keeping.

They'd wouldn't need the city to build them a track if they a third of the money their twitteratti thought they had.

Dude the city begged them to do it to shore up their partnership. Lawrence, city of, was just afraid they'd switch towns too when they went to the big 10.

" That near-miss (KU @ TCU).... didn't do much to build fan support, though. There were only a few thousand fans in Memorial Stadium on a cold, blustery day, even though students don't leave for Thanksgiving break until next week. The student section behind the West Virginia bench was especially empty. One reporter for the school newspaper counted just over 400 students in attendance. ''We knew we were going to have to create our own energy on the sidelines,'' West Virginia defensive lineman Kyle Rose said. ''I thought we did a really good job of that.''

So, I'm sure there are a lot of frustrated ISU fans applauding the move, BUT this seems more like an emotional reaction than a logical one.  Iowa State has played a lot better since Mangino was dismissed.   If you started with a blank sheet of paper for all Big 12 teams, Iowa State KSU would be the most disadvantaged programs.   Any good coaching prospect would not even consider ISU.  As we have learned while it is easy to fire a coach, it is much more difficult to hire someone who will be an improvement of a known commodity.  The odds are that whoever replaces Rhodes will no elevate the program.  That is probably good for KU.

Even in our worst season in decades, we manage to kill Iowa State's program. Lanning might/should transfer. He'll be good somewhere else.

The Mangino tweet was the most unclassy/awesomest thing I've ever seen from a fired coach on Twitter.

No, no you can't count any of that stuff.  He said if you start over with a blank sheet of paper for all teams.  So I guess the only factor being considered in that case is location in relation to recruiting hot spots and proximity to a major metropolitan area.  Nothing else matters.  That way they can feel better about themselves by having an inherent advantage over KSU.  It helps their psyche.

The school paper reporter spent time counting each individual student. I can't even imagine being that bad.
