That's definitely not a certainty in college football. One bad hire can sink a program pretty quickly. See: Florida, Michigan

Even with that fluke year, Mangino STILL lost a higher percentage of conference games compared to Ron Prince, that has to sting some. It will likely take longer than a decade to rebuild that shitpile to respecability, especially since they'll waste at least 4-5 years on the "Let's hire a WR coach as HC and surround him with a bunch of HS coaches" experiment.

You're probably right. 23-41 conf record at KU is equivalent to around 43-21 at K-State. Pretty good job by Mark.

Ron Prince was a bad coach by KSU standards

Ron Prince and Mark Mangino were both about the same coach when compared directly to each other. They are A and B.
