Whoa. KU won an Orange Bowl?

Back in ancient times when this was considered an accomplishment, KU stood proud.

3 years in a row of winning their super bowl got me thinking, what did this do for the rape culture of lawrence? is it safer or rapier when they're winning? more rapes when they're losing out of frustration?

discuss.

The difference in the 2 teams at the time Ron/Mark took over, is negligible at best.

K-State beat KU 64-0 in Mangino's first year (2002)

KU beat K-State 39-20 in Prince's first year (2006)

Mangino went 2-10 in his first year at KU

Ron Prince went 7-6 in his first year at K-State

Negligible difference?

That's definitely not a certainty in college football.  One bad hire can sink a program pretty quickly.  See:  Florida, Michigan

k-state had 1 more conference win than ku in the combined 2 years leading up to Ron/Mark...negligible.  But thanks for proving my point that Ron Prince was a better coach than Mangino.

Ron Prince was 0-3 vs. Mangino and never came close to winning 12 games in a season or National Coach of the Year.  You're a rough ridin' idiot.

Even with that fluke year, Mangino STILL lost a higher percentage of conference games compared to Ron Prince, that has to sting some.  Ron may have had a similar fluke season 6 years into his tenure, but we only gave him 3 years so we'll never know.  The butthurt around here must be rubbing off on you.

Beems is correct.

It will likely take longer than a decade to rebuild that shitpile to respecability, especially since they'll waste at least 4-5 years on the "Let's hire a WR coach as HC and surround him with a bunch of HS coaches" experiment.

I don't think what Mangino accomplished is appreciated enough. Beems is right on that one. Mangino was a great coach.

You're probably right.  23-41 conf record at KU is equivalent to around 43-21 at K-State.  Pretty good job by Mark.

why is Tom Brady a better QB than Peyton Manning? Super Bowl Wins.

why is Mark Mangino a better coach than Ron Prince? Super Bowl Wins.

We were in a Cotton Bowl 3 years after our bad hire is the difference here.

didn't KU's greatest coach in 50 years lose like 14 straight before getting run out of town on trumped up "player abuse" charges?
i just don't get it.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Listen listen listen...

Mark Mangino was a great coach by KU standards
Ron Prince was a bad coach by KSU standards

Ron Prince and Mark Mangino were both about the same coach when compared directly to each other.  They are A and B.
