I think it was you that missed the point. KSU is more attractive than before because of facilities. How much is hard to determine, but that's not the point either. The point is that it's a gamble for every school, and KSU is no exception. The last hire didn't work, but it wasn't because KSU is some untouchable program, it's because that gamble simply didn't work.
Any BCS school, including KU and KSU, are at least moderately attractive to most coordinators and non-power conference coaches. Doesn't mean every single one of them will jump at an offer, but they will probably think about it. They all know they might be able to wait it out and get something better, but maybe not. You think Pat Hill is happy he stayed at Fresno State? Nobody can confirm who chased after him, but he was a hot name at one point.
You're the one who doesn't get it.
There's always going to be uncertainty in any coaching hire, but the level of uncertainty varies based on which program is doing the hiring. For instance, Alabama has the ability to lure Nick Saban from the NFL, but most programs are forced to settle for less. With Prince, K-State was forced to take a gamble that the more traditional football programs wouldn't have had to take. Yes, facilities have improved at K-State, but every football program in the country is upgrading their facilities. It's not unique to K-State to have better facilities now than they did in 2005.
The truth is that outside of one coach, K-State football has been horrible. Until K-State succeeds with someone other than Snyder, people will continue to question the overall attractiveness of the program.
