Utah did a great job with that endzone renovation.   The old looked like a stinking white hot dumpster fire.   Thinking it looked good likely makes the person truly believe that the old North Endzone at K-State was great.

Texas' new endzone will be impressive as well, the old was a  of "we're rich but we look like a poor" cobblestone of half assery.

Stand-alone end zones must GO.

Who did they think they were, Virginia Tech?

 was waiting for Dlew to get in here and talk trash with his extremely weak takes on standalone end zones. No surprise though, he's always been in the pocket of Big Contiguous. "Yes hello I'm Dlew and I think that literally every stadium on earth must be a full bowl."

LOL

Is it just me or is the "UTAH" on the roof shifted to the left? It looks off center and drives me crazy. It's definitely different than the one in the end zone that looks properly centered

It's not just you. MIR, I think michiqat is referring to whether the Utah on the roof is off center as it relates to the football field below it. The word Utah is definitely centered on the roof between the turrets of the basketball arena, but it is also definitely SLIGHTLY off center from the football field below it. It's slight, but it's there and it's not just a parallax thing.

3 thoughts and then i'll hang up and listen:
1) while the UTAH is centered across the span of the building, the kerning of the letters is a little goofy its kind of like UT AH
2) that liddol U off on the mountain i love it
3) i'd like to know more about this helical obelisk out front

Doesn’t need to be a full bowl but if you’re going to have different sections of the stadium, may as well try to connect them in an aesthetically pleasing way.

Yeah, the Utah on the building is off center from the field, you can tell by looking at the turrets that the building isn't centered with the field. That building is actually on a curved road so for it to appear straight the stadium would have to not face N-S but slightly NNW-SSE

Nothing gets me horned up like some good Utah talk.

Those letters on the mountainside are everywhere.  The U here and the Y for BYU obviously, but high schools and towns all over the state have them.

The obelisk thing out front is the cauldron from the 2002 Olympics.  Might get to use it again in 2034.

Can’t really tell from the pics, but there is a road between that building and the stadium.  And no, they don’t quite line up.

I think it's centered on the building but the building isn't centered to the stadium

I actually wish we would've incorporated some of the same aspects/concepts of their renovation into the NEZ project at BSFS.

What if we incorporated some snow capped mountains in the next round of renovations?  Thoughts?

Then you have to take the weather that comes with it, let's do this instead

I'd take Raytown as a backdrop over any of those views.

MHK weather has been fantastic this year. It's been one of the only good things about 2020.

Some decent background shots of old Rice-Eccles in this video from 1994. Could've used more gratuitous coming-back-from-commercial mountain shots which also include the two cool and very different end zones.

One good thing about the game, even though it could've used more stade shots, is that we get to see a wild 90's crowd packed in there, throwing snowballs and tearing down the goalposts to celebrate the W.

I know what the stadiums are. Chicago is usually fine during college football season, the snow comes later. What's the issue with San Francisco at night in the summer (also not during college football season, btw)?

How cold are we talking here? Northern New England is relatively cold on summer nights, 60's and sometimes 50's in August, but I love it.

Along the bay and ocean side: cold, damp, and breezy.  Overnight temps upper 50's.  The water is cold, and the wind is stronger on the waterfront which makes it seem even colder.
