They both - by modern standards - have very, very tiny press boxes (and, more importantly) very small amounts of premium seating.

I've always thought Pollard was a bit of dummy and when they had their last round of stadium enhancements, they focused 50/50 on adding general seats (vs. premium seating) - pretty bad choice.

That said, the Cy Town thing does look like a pretty interesting concept.

If Jack Trice Field and Memorial Stadium had a kid, you'd have Mountaineer Stadium

It’s wild that their 90% or something the exact same stadium

Looked it up on Wikipedia, both are by Finch-Heery and built within 5 years of each other (mid to late 70s). So that makes sense they are so similar.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milan_Puskar_Stadium

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Trice_Stadium

And it even says Milan Puskar was inspired by Jack Trice

Yeah, their original stadiums, which are just grandstands along the sidelines are basically identical. The differences come in how they’ve filled in the end zones over the years.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Quote
“This results in a more prosperous KU that will lift the university and the city,” Jeff DeWitt, KU’s chief financial officer, told the Journal-World in an interview this week.

Public taxpayers, though, had better be prepared to do some of the lifting.

KU will seek about $85 million in public financial incentives — everything from STAR bonds from the state to a special taxing district from the city — to help pay for the project. But KU also is planning to raise approximately $100 million from its donors, and expects its private development partner in the project — the firm that built the new KCI airport — to invest more than $125 million in cash in the venture.

I'm more intrigued they all toss out this '200 events per year' metric for the convention center....

Because they're going to count every single miniscule thing as an "event" - the piece mentions counting weddings as "events" and referencing that Baylor has something similar and has loads of weddings. They're count easter egg hunts, free concerts with with the KU dorm association student band - anything and everything to get to that number.

The number of 15 "trade shows" each year ("many of them national in scope") could be realistic, though I have no idea what kind of "national" trade show would advocate for being in Lawrence, Kan. - a place that essentially requires a rental car and an hour-long trip to reach from an airport.

That's pretty much the only way I saw it also - stand up a bunch of divider partitions and have an elementary school art exhibition.

Man - I can’t believe the KU stadium project went from 5.5/7 to 8.9/7 on the public funding grift . . . Said no smart person ever
