Like Streetcar ridership just experienced it's biggest month of riders ever in the 4th year of operation.

I wonder when the novelty will wear off. Year 5 probably?

if you don't think that a big chunk of the people who ride that thing are olatheans who drive in to the big city to "ride the streetcar", i don't know what to tell you other than you're wrong

oh man link me to where i said that so we can lol at it together.

oh man you're totally playing the i didn't say that game when clearly you did.  oh man.  no thanks man.

ok. i absolutely think a bunch of joco'rs contribute to the ridership. do the ridership numbers come with an asterisk or something because of that? i don't even understand what your point is.

I know two different families(don't know each other and did this separately) that took a friday evening to drive downtown from the 'burbs just to park, walk to the streetcar line, ride the car, then walk back to their car and drive back to OP to get dinner.

'seeds.

you know some idiots

More than my share, unfortunately.

it's a worlds of fun ride for old people
the novelty will wear off and like emo said, how is it benefitting kansas city?  we have to see these development dollars in action.

Do you live downtown, now, Dlew? Does your car not work? Coming from Illinois, was the 1.2 mile choo choo train everything you imagined it to be? Do you work at ‘stones firm now? Do any of the respected lawyers there actually ride it?
No I don't live downtown.  Yes my car works.  I didn't think much of the streetcar coming from Chicago.  I don't work at LSOC's firm.  N/A.

I just needed to rent a car for work and there's a Hertz at Crown Center and a Streetcar pickup outside my office building.  In that context, the Streetcar was incredibly convenient.

It was also surprisingly crowded at 3:30 on a Wednesday afternoon.

The streetcar is like a person. It is not either all good or all bad. It has its struggles. It does the best it can. Ultimately, it deserves to be treated with respect and decency just like any other form of human life.

as someone who doesn't live or work in walking distance to the streetcar (although i work in kc), i think you'd have to say it's been a positive thing for kc, and is functional even at it's current length.  there weren't all the scooters around when it started, and it sounds like it's continuing to grow despite those alternative options, seems like a good thing.

the SC is a positive and the districts around it pay for it.  and "building more homeless shelters" is not an answer to poverty.

Imagine being triggered over a streetcar.  I just tried and wasn't able to.

going to ride it to hot country nights tonight and will try very hard to get triggered over it just to see what it feels like.

The only time I tried to ride it, an attendant came out and stopped people from buying tickets from the vending machines because they were shutting it down due to a riot down the line.

Other than that, no idea. It goes from OTR through downtown to the riverfront, which seems good, especially for eating and drinking and partying.

Riots?  Man they must have been really triggered, that's a level of devotion to streetcar hate that KC hasn't seen yet.  All we can get around here is some half-hearted complaining on a message board.

If you live in the taxing district, I can understand why you'd be pissed about it.  But I can't for the life me understand why else someone would be pissed.  Wacky, are you also pissed about Cincinnati's street car?

I lived downtown when it was being constructed and started running and later Waldo. It was a huge pain in the ass and seemed nonsensical. Cincinnati is gross overall, so I don’t really have any thoughts about it.
