no one did the proper due diligence in the first place when costing this out.  we’re not seeing the price go up either and yes we will get nickel and dimed

what was the reason given when selecting edgemoor? cost management?

https://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/price-tag-for-new-kci-terminal-rises-to-nearly-2-billion

$2B and counting but who cares, it’s all free!  the airlines are paying for it!
it’s almost like this is exactly what I said was going to happen.

kcmo’s city government is inexperienced and inept and should never have been trusted with this amount of responsibility when the price tag was $800M, or whatever fake number slyin bullshittingly threw out there to garner support.

Pretty bold prediction to say the cost would go up from 2015-dollar estimate without design work clams, proud of you..it's almost like nobody disagreed it would happen.....but at least more correct than your "the airport traffic can't continue to grow" prediction.

Platte county should have taken the airport by force!  I do hope a regional airport authority ends up taking responsibility of the airport...shouldn't be on KCMO's shoulders to approve bonds alone and the entire region flying public held to KCMO voters whims.

$2B seems right for a new terminal given inflation and newly instituted tariffs....this city has for too long nickel and dimed its way in new infrastructure, can't wait to fly out of this sexy bitch  :driving: <- plane controls

yeah the numbers are meaningless to me. we could wait until 2028 and it would be like $10B and make absolutely zero difference to any resident to kc in any way

remember when you guys promised that the new terminal cost equal to or less than rehabbing the current one?  i wonder if you still feel that way.  i wonder how you knew that back then, since now your claim is to not have known anything.  it must be nice living the life of a complete dumbass.

I believe the discussion was c'lams not believing the reno would be $1B

Regardless, a renovation doesn't fix the biggest problems with mci, so it doesn't really matter how much it costs.

are there rules around doing an airport renovation that only you know about?  because unlike our city government, i'm happy to admit that i'm no airport expert, but i'm quite sure that spending $1B on our current airport would fix mci's biggest problems, which apparently include a lack of bathrooms and no where for rainn wilson to shop at.

Having 20 security checkpoints and terminals 4 miles apart are the biggest problems for future growth of the airport, the bathrooms and amenities are more easily addressed.

future growth?  the new terminal design has fewer gates than our current.  tell me more about our current design not being able to handle future growth as one of our current terminals sits shuttered (at the direction of slyin' hams).   i'm interested in hearing so much more from our resident airport gurus.

Wasn't A closed because it was too expensive to keep open? The number of gates is a red herring, mci only uses like half of the available ones already. Efficiency is more important

I know you have a "We're just little ol' kc and happy to be here" mentality, but the current design just isn't worth keeping and investing in to renovate.
