MPLS and Houston "light rail" has portions where it shares the street with cars. The distinction isn't as black and white as you are trying to make it.

You do also understand they both run on rails right?
I'm starting to think my biggest problem with the streetcar is the smarmy attitudes and seemingly blind faith in the project from the supporters in this thread. Geez.
