rail means a dedicated rail. but i think the way you were using it (with regards to government funds iirc) you were meaning "non-bus public transit"

It is dedicated rail... Its not sharing with rails with any other service. If you are saying dedicated right of way? Then Minneapolis and Houston should call themselves streetcars.

light rail has it's own dedicated right of way, figured you'd know that, mr.streetcar

MPLS and Houston "light rail" has portions where it shares the street with cars. The distinction isn't as black and white as you are trying to make it.

So you agree Houston and Minneapolis are streetcars. You do also understand they both run on rails right?

It's weird how the National Transit Database lists street car under "Urban Rail" and people still deny it.  Some people's hate of public transport options cloud their minds I guess.

I'm starting to think my biggest problem with the streetcar is the smarmy attitudes and seemingly blind faith in the project from the supporters in this thread. Geez.

They did... Mostly for the public parking garage underneath 2 light. It was part of the original p&l deal with cordish.
