Crossroads people.  :curse: :curse: :curse: :curse: :curse: :curse: :curse: :curse:
:ohno:  hopefully the brewery is still good

they keep denying my liquor license application. kansas city has the WORST rules for liquor licenses.

check yo PMs.....what makes KCMO the worst?  Sign off by the neighbors?  That seems like a pretty good rule in theory but I could see it causing NIMBY issues.

I've never opened up an establishment in another city, so I don't know first hand if it's the wort. but, my lawyer has repeatedly told me that opening in the crossroads is an uphill battle the whole way. and he's been right.

LOL at your autocorrect to "wort"...true brew guy.  It will be worth it!!!  Hopefully you got Dick Bryant working for you...guy is a stud at liquor stuff.

ha awesome, didn't even notice.

It'll totally be worth it, and we're 100% committed to it since we have a 6 yr lease and already well over $50,000 in the building.

I don't know Dick, the guy that's doing it for me is essentially working for free, and has done multiple in Waldo/brookside and plaza, so he's pretty experienced. He's a family friend.

Dick's thing is liquor and strip clubs....he seems to know his way around problems....but can't beat family friends at that price.

Sounds like some big shot attorney cats and others need to see what they can do.  Gotta be someone on here in the know or with some pull

I'm confident KCFDcat will get taken care of....just sounds like some negotiations with the neighborhood association.  Getting kind of NIMBY down there in the crossroads...lots of $ invested down there people getting a little gun-shy from some prior bars that were shitty neighbors.

Its crazy kansas city has a pretty neat historical buildings, even though so many have been torn down.  Is there an archive dedicated to what kc looked like historically?  I'd totally check that out.

My building downtown, 1000 Walnut, has a small gallery in the lobby called the Box Gallery. Through April 17th, the gallery will be hosting an exhibit called "Photographs Tell The Story."

Background:

"Cris Wilborn, owner of Wilborn & Associates, admits he doesn't know how many photographs are in his archive. It is probably the largest collection fo Kansas City commercial photography in the world, with over 100,000 negatives and prints spanning the past century. It includes historical panoramas, architectural documentation, iconic sights, and group photos of every size and category. The exhibit tells the story of the Wilborn familiy's history in the photography business and presents a small sampling of the photographs in this immense collection. We hope you like the stories they tell."

www.wilbornphoto.com

NOTE: The Box Gallery is free and open to the public. Open 8am-8pm Monday-Friday. It's in the middle of the lobby that has a round, glass roof. If you have any difficultly locating it, ask any of the very polite security guards and they'll gladly show you the way.

There are some awesome photos of the Monarchs, an awesome amateur shot of Union Station under construction taken by the guy's mother, and many more.
Please don't ban me, Mr. Dave.

Do you guys ever go to the peanut downtown? I mean, just the worst service in the world. Dirty plates sitting on top of kegs that are aligned the wall, but I can't stay away. Those wings and that blue chz.

We live in a weird society where eating tacos for 270 days straight is some phenomenon and rewarded.

You don't go to the 'nut for a white table cloth affair. You go to the 'nut for cheap keg beer and delish wings. The service walks a fine line between absolutely pathetic and charming. It's exactly what I want out of a place of this sort.

I think I've posted this before, but they do mobster tours downtown. They show you the tunnels they use to work through and you finish the tour at Garozzo's where I'm sure many have been killed.

Anthony's feels more goodfellas-y than Garozzo's imo
