I never get the "I hate the city where I live, its awful, boring etc etc" mindset. Either embrace it and love it or find a place that suits you better.

I love Chicago

The best oceans and mountains in america

Property values relative to income are amazingly good in KC despite the oceans and mountains of Chicago.

move to san diego.  chicago is hot/cold garbage and filled with ugly people.

Are you enjoying yourself kim? Really beautiful place, and I made out with a hot Australian girl in San Diego  so it gets a good grade from me ;)

No mountains/oceans, but it has the lake and a ton of beach areas.

Chicago in the summertime is tough to beat.

I imagine you're going to defend this town no matter what argument someone would  make against it.

I'm just more interested in non-crap cities

Great food unique to the city
Good weather (not horrible)
Decent businesses
Good golf
Good airport
Good schools
Good property values
Good time zone
Good location to get to other good locations for quick weekends
Good non-crime stuff

I consider myself lucky to be here and have family close by.

Everything I know about Milwaukee is from Laverne and Shirley.  Seems nice.

FWIW, I love KC.

move to san diego.  chicago is hot/cold garbage and filled with ugly people.

right. says noted urbanist kim carnes.

physically beautiful -- which i also find chicago to be -- but boring as hell. true story: good friend moved to chicago from sd because he liked chicago more.

vapid midwesterners who think they'll golf ( :Yuck:), surf and hike all day, every day move to places like san diego or tampa ( :Yuck:  :Yuck:).

i'd love to see your brewery suggestions. gordon biersch and rock bottom or something along those lines?

then a meal at the local mccormick and schmick's?

Don't know much about these. Seems like every other Kstater in KC is an engineer, tho.

Yeah but it's mostly the Burns & mac/Black & veach types. Great place if that's your specific field.

Cerner?  Populous?  Black & Veetch?  Burns & Mac?  American Century?

I'd agree some of the other larger employers like DST, State Street, Gov't, Sprint, Yellow....pretty ass sucky.
