I'd guess a downtown park in KC would have 30-35k capacity. And fountains!

Downtown ballpark will be a PITA for people coming from the burbs compared to Kauffman, but for elites like me who work downtown it will be incredible

Yes.  I think the prospect of the weekday walk up crowd is great.  No parking needed because already parked.

if they build in the east village there will be garages built on the east side of 71/49 and people can walk across the bridges (which all recently were replaced)

Is the Sprint Center a pita?

To be clear the default KC resident position is every potential change is a PITA for them.

It's not unique. Similar photos of Louisville floating the web

it's definitely not unique, but there's only one bitb.

also i drove along Frankfort ave through crescent hill earlier this year. pretty adorable

It's actually a pretty good comp. T mobile capacity is 20k.

STHs attend 20-82 games a year, no one is going to T-Mobile that many times a year. I'm pro downtown stadium for everywhere, unless it eliminates housing, but you will lose some convenience but gain much more.

I don't understand why this is a bad thing.  No city looks like it did at the turn of the 20th century, nor should it.

of course, i was just responding to whoever commented that there would be significantly more people going to each game than events at t-mobile.
on weekdays, royals attendance is garbage, and downtown would not even notice 10-15k people parking anywhere for a 7pm game.

it would be real fun to take off early and walk over for a 1pm businessman special though

What are the details on this new airport roto bbq thing?  Will it be any good?

I fly into MCI 2-3 times a year but rarely spend any time in KC.  I’m always jonesing for BBQ and debating whether I have time for a quick stop somewhere before flying out.  Something decent in the airport would be perfect.

On that note, what’s the consensus on Slap’s BBQ?  Stopped by there on Sunday before leaving.  It hit the spot for me but maybe my BBQ hurdle is so low now that I don’t know what’s good any more.

cities don't usually choose to Dresden their own downtowns to quite the extent kc has. you really don't understand why building a highway (or four in kc's case) directly through neighborhoods is bad for the neighborhoods?

Thanks for validating my tastebuds.  It’s an easy on/off highway stop, so definitely going back.

I mean, I guess?  Where would be a better place to put the highways?

not directly through the densest part of the city.
from the article i linked:

Quote
The early vision for a national highway system was of freeways that would connect major metropolitan areas but terminate at ring roads around cities, rather than penetrating the downtown core. (The ring-road model is the norm in Europe to this day.) This debate occurred nationally, but in almost every city, the forces that wanted a downtown freeway—including influential real estate and business interests—won out. (Something that President Eisenhower, who signed the 1956 Highway Act, was reportedly surprised and dismayed by.)

Not sure but probably the same for me. High school friends ruined it when they told me they used to piss in the turkey leg vat.

I certainly hope so but no way I'm ever ordering one ever. I assume they aren't that great and a mess anyways.

I had one a couple of years ago at the KC Renfest. The wait was absurd. They're pretty sinewy and kind of taste like piss.  :dunno:
