Asava, would you qualify that if you drove to it, it isn't really camping?
thats definitely where i draw the line. otherwise it's just partying in a nature setting. or big n' rich camping.

i would also say that if you aren't hiking at least 20 miles during your trip then its probably not camping.
Sounds more like hiking.

hiking is generally a part of camping if you aren't being pud.
If you hike then set up a camp not near your car, i believe that would be termed 'backpacking'
I camped/lived in a tent for nearly an entire summer while working on my MS at KSU...I know a thing or two about camping.
Regarding a tent, if you are only going to go 1-2x/yr and do the park and empty your ride type camping then a cheap one would be fine. Try to find one that will be easy to set up and never think it will sleep as many as it says.
