Asava, would you qualify that if you drove to it, it isn't really camping?
:adios:

gonna be honest. no one in this thread has mentioned anything that qualifies as actual camping.

wow, what a dickhead

not my problem that a bunch of noobs wanna talk about driving up to a camping spot, unloading a cooler of beer and chowin down on hot dogs while admiring the fact that they are "roughin it."

hey man some people do LCD Soundsystem camping. some people do Carly Rae camping. some people do GG Allin camping. It's still "ACTUAL CAMPING" ya know?
man.  GG Allin camping.  beware.

pott2 has a warden that lives out there, and on weekends you can be certain he'll come around the lake at dusk and check in on everyone, looking for prohibitied malt beverages.  The good news is everytime i've seen the gentleman hes just told us "You know Kansas ordnance bla bla bla bans the consumption of alcohol in state parks bla bla bla" but then just asks to make sure we clean up after ourselves and goes on his way.

this thread reminds me of the time I schlepped a cooler of beer all the way up Everest.  I ate dead people all the way up and back down, slept under the stars.  real camping.  no toothbrush, either.

i would also say that if you aren't hiking at least 20 miles during your trip then its probably not camping.

forage and kill to eat and drink. no tent. build your shelter from lumber you chopped with a rock you sharpen w/ another rock.

daris, i've probably done more car camping than the rest of this board combined, so you should do exactly what i tell you to do.

you don't need a tent, they're useless.  get a cot and a good pad.  don't camp anywhere humid.  that's it, that's all you need to know.

Yeah, and he's just wrong. Let's say you decide to canoe down the grand canyon and set up camp. You aren't hiking; you're floating. I think even asava would still say you are camping, though.

That dad is an bad person and has no idea what real camping is.  Real camping is stealing a real rough ridin' Gorilla from the zoo, giving it some form of rabies, and setting it loose in the middle of camp for real then having to knife fight it to the end for survival.
