Seems like it would take forever to heat up/never hold.

$6 more. http://www.amazon.com/Texsport-Cast-Iron-Dutch-Oven/dp/B00019H602/ref=sr_1_3?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1398452204&sr=1-3&keywords=dutch+oven

Back to tents, do you really need an 8-man tent? Is that because you love snoring and stink?

5/6 would be the absolute biggest I would go.

I've got a smaller Mountainsmith, it's a lot of tent for the money. Would recommend, highly.

Or maybe this, with a ubiquitous 35% off STP promo code.

that all makes sense. for me it's maybe just something to do w/ the little daris's while we are out at the lake or whatever. like, hey let's fish for two hours and then try to go make something in that ridiculous metal oven thing. it's a time filler/project/experiment device. idk.

i would be camping w/ three other humans most of the time so four total. i don't know that i need an 8 person one but i mean if i'm going 6 then why not just go 8 kind of thing. are there drawbacks to biggers ones. i mean idk, but more room sounds nice.

The bigger tents, usually 8+ have options for a window mounted air conditioner in case you get too warm.  They're great if you just want to lay under the stars and watch some Big Bang Theory on your ipad.

I get it. But it seems like 8-person is kind of a tipping point. It's either crap quality or a $1,000 Everest Base Camp job. So, you can get a 6-man tent from a reputable manufacturer at a reasonable price that will last a decade, or a slightly-bigger, way-heavier Coleman (sorry, Wichita) that you'll most likely have to replace in six to 24 months.

Tell the kids to keep their stuff put up and you'll have plenty of room in a 6-man tent to play cards while it's raining.

Two four-man tents would be a great option for space/solitude.

sleeping in tents on the ground is one of the stupidest things a human can do.  buy everyone a cot.  sleep on the cot.  it's about 9 million times better.  unless it's raining or there are tons of mosquitos sleep in the open air.  for rain have a tarp that you can cover yourself with.  for mosquitos either stop camping or buy some mosquito netting or something, i dunno.  mosquitoes suck.

why not just sleep in your bed at home and just like, open the windows or something (obviously keep the ac on so it doesn't get sweaty hot)

sometimes you aren't close to your house when you want to sleep.

Or one of these?

Never used one, dunno. Might not be terribly practical in a lot places in KS. Much more packable than a cot, though.

I like a place to change in privacy when around others, and my air mattresses are plenty comfortable.

Hey guys, just wanted to worn you about the tics out there this season. We did a 10 mile hike saturday just 20 miles south of fayatteville and I found two of these critters on me. One had his fangs torched into my leg (where the arm pit area would be for the leg. Right underneath my knee) and the other one was headed for the boys before I snagged him. I'm a little woozy today. I'm pretty sure it's a mixture of lime green and a hangover. Best of luck!

I thought Wacky had a hangover from drinking too many Bud Light Limes.
