Please post more legal arguments.  Use more terms of art.

Let's try a little social experiment here. FSD, build an improvised explosive device in your garage. Alert me when you are ready so that I can set up webcams before the authorities get to your residence. Surely, since it isn't illegal to possess a bomb, you should have no troubles.

Buying things that explode at cabela's and building a bomb are not the same thing.

Wasn't the argument over possession?  If not I misunderstood the argument.

also gunpowder isn't a high explosive and you can't buy high explosives off the shelf anywhere.

I wasn't talking about gunpowder.

Tannerite is absolutely considered a high explosive.

Thanks for learning me.

Holy crap federal laws allow you to have up to 50 lbs.

Thank god you didn't tell the marathon bombers about this stuff.

looks like you can use tannerite for it's intended purpose (target practice), but not for making bombs. seems consistent with my crazy idea that making/possessing bombs is illegal.

How do you differentiate between making it for one thing versus another if they are in the same form?  Context clues I guess?   :dunno:

I mean what's the difference between driving through Times Square with this stuff on your way to a gun range or to harm people?

There's a gun range at 20th and 5th.  It's plausible.

i don't want or need to walk you through what differences there might be between a 20lb plastic sack of your "high explosive" and something that would be considered a bomb.

hello DHS database.  :adios:

Wasn't the argument over possession?  If not I misunderstood the argument.
The original argument is whether it's legal to possess "backpack bombs" of the type the Boston guy used.

FSD then (hilariously) asked if backpack bombs are illegal, should cars or liquor also be illegal.

No, the argument is memorized on this webpage and goes like this.

Dlew: bombs are illegal in all circumstances
Sugar Dick:  without mea culpa or a strict liability statute that's not true
Bubbles:  blurb a blurb a boo boo :heavybreathing:
Sugar Dick: toys with bubbles
Dlew: after foolishly disagreeing with Sugar Dicks unobjectionable statement, makes failed effort to reframe argument into what a "bomb" is, while sugar dick pokes fun at bubbles copied and pasted definition of "firearm"
Emo: cleans up scraps
Dlew: final failed attempt to reframe argument, should probably have stayed away

Man. If only that cop had been able to carry his own gun and defend himself, maybe this shooting could have been prevented.

Shut the eff up.

He's right, Guns are too dangerous for cops. We should have them all disarmed.

While we're at it we should pass sweeping pressure cooker and backpack bomb reform to keep this from happening ever again.

I mean, who needs a 6 quart pressure cooker?!?! Clearly an assault-cooker intended for wartime use only.
possessing "backpack bombs" is already illegal.

You're dumb.  Absent mens rea or a strict liability statute there is no crime against making a backpack bomb.

The National Firearms Act governs the making, importation, registration, and possession of "firearms," a term that is defined to include "destructive devices," and includes devices in the nature of explosive or incendiary bombs. 26 U.S.C.S. §§ 5845(a), (f); 26 U.S.C.S. §§ 5801-5872 (1988).

You're dumb.
If that's what you think that says, then, unequivocally, the answer to your question is bubbles.
Wow, junior attorney alert.  The fed defined firearms to include bombs, so they are illegal, just like long guns.

JFC, this board is full of nitwits.
The next time I fill up my gas can I'll be sure to make sure my "firearm" is transferred through a registered firearms dealer so not to break the law, per the advice of whiz bang goE counsel dlew and bubbles.
crap, I have a bottle of 151 in my liquor cabinet.  Am I in violation of the Federal Firearms Act?

The ramset in my garage?
you're good to make all the bombs you want if you lack the requisite mens rea to kill people, FSD.

Thanks for the free legal advice.

that isn't legal advice and it wasn't serious. building bombs is a federal offense.

Regardless, a bunch of half wits will jump on here posting inapplicable shreds of nonsense (similar to what you posted) and through conjecture and ignorance you and dlew will be falsely vindicated.  Congrats

that was a copy and paste from a u.s. court of appeals case that said it is illegal to build or possess bombs. i posted it in response to you saying it wasn't illegal to build or possess bombs. who is being ignorant here?
If that's what you think that says, then, unequivocally, the answer to your question is bubbles.
crap, I have a bottle of 151 in my liquor cabinet.  Am I in violation of the Federal Firearms Act?

Do you not think there's a relevant difference between liquor/car and a pressure cooker full of explosives and shrapnel that's all connected to a detonator?

Do you disagree with my original post?  If not, then shut up.
If your original post was saying that possession of the device i just described isn't illegal, then yes.  I unequivocally disagree.

Your summary, shockingly, wasn't exactly accurate.  You also came across as a pretty big jerk who didn't know what the hell he was talking about.

Shame on you, FSD.
