The main issue is storage. Batteries need to really come a long way to make it affordable.
In Apple's innovation lab they have a battery that can power an iPhone for a year and only takes 30 seconds to charge.
when the earth finally goes to one single currency it's going to make things a lot easier as well

But 115V @ 10Amps would do 8 W*hrs in less than 30 seconds (capacity of my SIII battery).
