earth day
« on: April 02, 2013, 09:39:45 AM »
do you recognize earth day?  for those that said yes, do you formally celebrate it?

personally, i don't recognize it because i believe it to be a holiday manufactured by the pharmaceutical companies.
reuse, recycle, reclaim.  really?  because last i checked people don't do any of those things.

point of this thread?  i think earth day is a sham and people who buy into the notion that earth day matters are nothing but tree hugging fish eaters.

Pretty big holiday for me, I will spend about 10 hours picking up trash along the highway and recycling what I gather up. One planet, one chance, you know?

I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

Did you know LaFarge gets people to pay them to pick up their sorted trash, and then LaFarge recycles what they can (for profit) and burns the rest making concrete?  It's like paying someone to flush the toilet for you.

Damn, that sucks. You should probably just make the most out of the situation or something. Maybe you could bring some chips and guacamole to work that day and just chow down.

Well, yeah, if flushing your toilet is as inconvenient as driving down to the recycling center and then coming back home and making a batch of concrete.

K-State has determined:

1.  No significant change in Nitrogen levels in soil over a 500 year period.

2.  Higher CO2 in air actually helps certain food crops become more drought resistant.

Yeah, but then nothing gets recycled. I wouldn't expect somebody to come recycle my stuff for me and not make some kind of profit off of it.

i'd certainly hate to contribute to the myriad of problems that earth day is solving by hauling an avocado all the way from southern mexico to NE KS just so i can make a bowl of guacamole.

The avocado has already been hauled to the grocery store, and if nobody buys it, it's just going to rot.

Scenario 1:  pay $10/mo, throw everything in one dumpster
Scenario 2:  pay $20/mo, painstakingly sort all your waste

Maybe you should just go for some locally grown Monsanto-free soy bean hummus with homemade organic oven toasted tortilla chips  :lick:

Earth should have a day.  It's not Earth's fault if that day is abused by some.

I guess we don't need to worry about climate change then!   (The oil companies are running low on talking points, but good work finding a few stragglers to trot out here.)

So the research at K-State was funded by Oil Companies?

Plus the climate hacker (who scoffs that at the notion that he is related to anything in the corporate, political anglo-sphere) released more hacked emails.   Wow, just wow, what a bunch of frauds those so called "scientests" were.

the problem with earth day is that its proponents have lost focus and the agenda has become muddled.

Tree City USA!

That's where I live.  It's not really named that, but that is the title the town has been given like every yr since forever ago from the ppl that give out the title.  A well defended title.  Other towns try to rise up and step to this, but we smack those bitches down on the reg.

Plant a tree then enjoy that avocado.  They equal out.

Also, I recycle.  What now motherfuckers?

I don't think I want to live in a world without avocados at the grocery store. Luckily, I won't have to because almost nobody shares your opinion.
