#1 90's band matchbox twenty, impossible to overrate because they rock so hard they break any ratings machine ever invented.  M20.

hi chip, M20 rules.  i've seen them 12 times (including twice in lawrence in one year).   best guitarist on the planet? check.  best drummer?  check.  best bassist?  i don't even know what a bass sounds like.  rob thomas?  meow, boner alert.

asava, I have no idea what you're trying to say. Because he had a huge ego he must be overrated? Solid logic.

Oasis is great. Probably underrated.

Can we just change the title of this thread to "90's bands discussion"?

so because they wrote 1979 and a few other songs that were popular it makes them worthy of the attention they got in the 90's? I've heard people say they were one of the most influential bands of their time (including Corgan himself), that Siamese Dream is "one of the best albums of all time, dude". The fact that the lead singer for that band compares himself to Neil Young is example enough of how out of touch fans of the Smashing Pumpkins are.

Quinten Tarantino always talks about how great and influential he is. Does that make him not great?

Well if some guy i have never heard of named Quinten Tarantino is going around saying he is super great and influential then I would probably consider him overrated. Quentin Tarantino is probably overrated as well. Just to be clear, overrated doesn't mean a person or band or anything is horrible. Just means they aren't billed as advertised. (Still personally think The Smashing Pumpkins are trash, though).

Since we're discussing 90's bands now, on a scale of great to rough ridin' amazing these bands all are jumbled together somewhere in there

Slipknot
311
RATM
Tool/Perfect Circle
Deftones

I bet you wore JNCO jeans in high school.

Rage against the Machine is amazing though

Actually I made fun of the goth kids that were into Slipknot and Deftones in high school. Wasn't until college I realized what I was missing out on

And my mom would never have bought JNCO's for me even if I asked. I was American Eagle all day every day  :gocho:

Arbys seemed underrated before lunch but then I got a sandwich there and now it seems really overrated and actually pretty rough ridin' disgusting.

Radiohead, ratm, tool and soundgarden seemed like they were the only ones doing anything amazing in the 90s, but that is just my opinion. I didn't listen to 90s music in the 90s though since I was too young so take that fwiw

She say it's cold outside and she hands me my raincoat
She's always worried about things like that
She says it's all gonna end and it might as well be my fault
And she only sleeps when it's raining
And she screams and her voice is straining

[chorus]

She says baby
It's 3 am I must be lonely
When she says baby
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes
Says the rain's gonna wash away I believe it

She's got a little bit of something, God it's better than nothing
And in her color portrait world she believes that she's got it all
She swears the moon don't hang quite as high as it used to
And she only sleeps when it's raining
And she screams and her voice is straining

[chorus]

She believes that life is made up of all that you're used to
And the clock on the wall has been stuck at three for days, and days
She thinks that happiness is a mat that sits on her doorway
But outside it's stopped raining

I saw mb20 at a festival in high school (one of the lazer shows at Clinton lake) .   It was awful.  Worst band I've ever seen live.  Cake at one of those same shows was the second worst.
