I unpinned it, but below are the season per 100 possession numbers. We'll see on DJamer. It would take Shane-like improvement. Gip showed enough to see he was a decent scorer as a freshman. DJamer was our least efficient scorer this season.

http://goEMAW.com/forum/index.php?topic=25815.msg780656#msg780656

He was 2nd in OBoarding, which means he may be able to help get the ball to players who can score (assuming he doesn't get better himself).

Question: Does Southwell move to the wing and we play Gipson and DJamer at the same time?  Or do we move Southwell to the wing and start Nino at the four?

The wing situation concerns me, which is ironic, because oscar was big on wings at Illinois.

i really hope southie stays at the 4.  unless we have a big on the team next year that we don't currently know about, i don't see anyway that playing two bigs would be preferable to playing 4 out.

What if every single player on the roster as well as the recruits made shane-like progress?  Wait, what if they made JO-like regression?

regression?  perhaps you mean what if they play great, but don't get to play much?  that seems unlikely.

This. Shane would not be nearly the offensive matchup problem he is for other teams if he moves to the wing. Also, our bigs are terrible, so why would we want more than one of them out there at the same time? I'm confident that a combo of Omari/Westicles would be more effective than having any of our true post players on the court at the same time, even if Shane was able to sustain his production on the wing.

Shane kind of sucked at guarding good 4s this year though.

So did our big men early in the year, so... :dunno:

Eh, yeah. Good point. I have just as much faith in him become a better defender as I do DJamer or Diaz. Maybe more confidence than Nino.

yes.  Maybe I should have asked what if everyone develops a skill set that oscar doesn't know how to use so he sits everyone for every game?

I have faith in Shane and Angel. Next year will still be fun because of those two.

Gip is a good scorer and rebounder, though defense is a concern.

Other guys will have to improve, but next year's team should be fine and should be a tournament team.

gippy can score, williams can score, southie can score, obviously art can score.  diaz and omoney can maybe score, it's hard to know.  spradling can hit open shots (at least every other year).

at any rate, i don't think scoring is going to be a huge worry.  defense and rebounding are definitely more worrisome.

i would put DJamer down as a player who can also maybe score.

I unpinned it, but below are the season per 100 possession numbers. We'll see on DJamer. It would take Shane-like improvement. Gip showed enough to see he was a decent scorer as a freshman. DJamer was our least efficient scorer this season.

very possible.  But smell/taste is pretty liary.  There are always studies about wine experts being idiots in double-blind taste tests and people thinking really good cheeses smell like vomit.  But that all relies on sight to mitigate, so maybe sight truly is lying its ass off all the time.

I have very large concerns about our basketball future as we move into the Post Tunnel Dance Era.  We really need strong minutes from two of these three people  DJamer, Diaz, Fincher. If two of them step up we could compete for the big 12. If one steps up we still make the NCAA tournament. If we get nothing we lose about every other game in conference. For reference I am talking 5 points 6 rebounds per game minimum.

I would expect that Angel will average 36 minutes a game at point.
Will will average 30 minutes,
Omari 26 minutes (10 for Will and 16 for Shane at SG),
Shane 34 minutes  16 at PF,
Nino 20 minutes and
Gipson and DJamer 20 minutes each at 5.

Starting Lineup

PG    Angel   JR.                Orris  So.                              Thomas Fr.    Probable Redshirt
G      Will      Sr.                Omari Sr.                       Foster Fr.
G   Shane   Sr.                    Westicles Fr.
PF    Nino     Jr.                     Fincher Fr.
C    Gipson  Jr.            DJamer  So. ,   Diaz  Jr.

Starting                                     Reserve

Shane      :horrorsurprise:             Angel         :dubious:

Surely during the off season someone will be able to teach Diaz how to score, right?

I think we sneak in as a double digit seed next year.  We'll win a game or two we shouldn't...

Yeah our best feature this year was having a wide variety of tools and the capability to play 9 players that could start and all could be pretty decent. We are going to be more victimized by foul trouble, fatigue, and defensively we are likely going to be in the bottom half of the conference in most stats:  Rebounds, Steals, FG% defense, and Blocked Shots.

Tight lineup.  Looks 5 starters and two legit reserves (EMAPE and DJamer).  Hoping that Foster can step in soon because I have little faith in Orris.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I guess just stating that they will get the most minutes of the reserves would have been more accurate.
