I hate houses separated into different rooms (other than bedrooms and bathrooms). every house I ever want to own is going to have a giant living, kitchen, dining, sitting, etc. space so everyone has to deal with everyone else 24/7/365 or they can just go to their rooms. WE'RE A rough ridin' FAMILY AND WE'RE GOING TO LIVE LIKE ONE! also it would be impossible to keep track of lil sd if he had multiple smaller areas to roam around in.

Open floor plans are all the rage right now

Open floor plans are loud.  Kitchen and TV competing.   Ugh.

Yes! I hate it when I am trying to watch something and Gooch is over there in the kitchen cooking my dinner and running the faucet, making a bunch of noise.

What's a tornado strap?

one of a variety of metal fastener anchors that reinforce connections in wood framing.  They are commonly used at truss and plate joints, wall sill to foundation, and wall to wall.   The resist the uplift caused by high winds.

My roof is 45 degrees and it sucks because I can't walk up there to fix anything

Two trees are mandated by the HOA.

Generally they're pretty lax until your house is complete.

The HOA is still controlled by the builders and I hear they're hard asses.
