you guys would never make it in new orleans where there are literally no garages AND no basements. I'm hardcore.

I'm really rethinking this decision, guys.  What if 2800 square feet isn't enough room?
It's not. Family of four. 3200 sf finished. Looking at finishing the bonus over the garage for another 600+ sf.

I barely have anything. I hate having lots of things. lil sd loves things though. It's annoying as crap.

You guys sound like pack rats.

j/k.  I"ll probably only park one car in the garage.

Make sure your garage is deep enough to park a crew cab pickup or suburban in it.

And make sure the stairs jutting out to get into your house don't take up too much of the depth to get a car in that side.

This.  Really sucks to have to limit your vehicle purchases based on what fits in your garage.

Doesn't @Rusty have a family of four in SF?

I don't think I applied a filter to it.  That's just your average 100 degree Texas day filter.

I live in the east bay and I think I have like 1400sq ft. I have like this big awkward space in the living room where no one goes. I'm also a better person than all of you, so there's that.

This drives me nuts in a bunch of new houses.  I don't need a giant bedroom.  Bed/TV/closet/bathroom -> I'm good

Interesting to see the different ways we all like to live. I like small vacation places but prefer larger daily living. Although, I'm sure we'll downsize in a few years when the kids are on their own.

i like a pretty good sized bedroom.  we have like 3.5 rooms in my house that we hardly use, they should have used those to make the bedroom and kitchen bigger.

I hate houses separated into different rooms (other than bedrooms and bathrooms). every house I ever want to own is going to have a giant living, kitchen, dining, sitting, etc. space so everyone has to deal with everyone else 24/7/365 or they can just go to their rooms. WE'RE A rough ridin' FAMILY AND WE'RE GOING TO LIVE LIKE ONE! also it would be impossible to keep track of lil sd if he had multiple smaller areas to roam around in.

That's our house. Open day area, kids' rooms on one side and master suite on the other.

Older kids do migrate to their rooms more frequently.
