people here claim NE has some of the worst property taxes in the country. I always wondered if that was accurate or just classic midwestern complaining.

apparently true

5. Nebraska

• Taxes as percentage of home value: 1.70%

• Median home value: $123,300

• Rank based on percentage of income: 14

Despite a comparatively low median home value of $123,300, Nebraska has the fifth highest property taxes in the U.S. Nebraska's figure for median property taxes paid on homes is a relatively modest $2,164, bringing the state in at only No. 17 for this measurement. Recently, Nebraska farmers have called on the state legislature to lower property taxes because they hold so much of the burden. Clay County and Grant County have the highest property taxes in the state.

TX technically 3rd on that list but when you consider no state income tax it isn't so bad

He probably regrets recommending that edger/trimmer thing to me because the battery doesn't last long enough for my super elite lawn with all its graceful edges and corners. I have to do the front first, then plug in the battery while I mow, then do the back.
How big is your lot? I'm in the market for an electric trimmer. I'm really sick of getting a tuneup every year on the little bastard.

Buy the hedge trimmer and you will get a second battery and charger.  Boom....problem solved.

So, sold my current house last weekend.  9 offers in 48 hours after 30 showings.

But the best part is, the buyer is going to lease us back the house until our new house is done.

is the lease less or more than your current payment?

Slightly more but much less than getting an apartment.

Huh. Which one do you have? I have a Ryobi with a Li-Ion battery and it has plenty of juice to do all my trimming. I have almost a 1/2 acre lot with fenced back yard and plenty of landscape edging. But I don't use the trimmer to edge my driveway and street. Are you doing that? That might also explain why you're going through string so fast. I use a Black & Decker corded edger I picked up on Craigslist for $20. It works awesome and I really don't mind the 150' of extension cord.

The 40v SD B&D. Yeah I'm edging the curb, driveway and 200+ feet of sidewalk. I also may have poor string trimmer skills/strategies.

Yeah, that's the problem. I never figured out how to use a trimmer to edge pavement without gobbling up the string.

Guys, I'll ask my landscaper what kind of trimmer he uses.  It does a great job on my yard.

the rate at which string is destroyed is 100% dependent on the skill of the person doing the stringing

on year two of that thing it still goes my whole yard as well as swapping the battery to the blower to blow off the grass on one charge. But, I don't have a corner, just a normal sidewalk, driveway front. Also no fence in back. I do edge every other mow though. The weird thing about the string is the original string lasted the entirety of last summer. then this year I'm already on my second replacement string. Like, the original string must have been made out of space metal or something while this replacement string is made out of like some incredibly soft materiel.

You gotta edge, man. It's awesome. The edges my lawn are cleaner than a Kurt Russell crew cut.
