Thoughts on countertops???

Granite are standard.  I guess it will just be a matter of the color.  Probably go with a light shade of brown.

marble or caesarstone fake marble if you don't want to care for marble.

We're having marble in the bathrooms.  Is there special care required for marble?

marble isn't very durable. get quartz in the entire house. I have some granite in my butlers pantry and drop zone and I hate its guts.

Let's talk about that two car garage...

To add a 3 car garage I was going to have to go with a bigger lot.  Was going to be an additional 30K.  Decided to go with a pool instead.
Do you have kids?  I can't imagine having only a 2 car especially w/o a basement

You made the right choice. In New Orleans there are zero garages basically anywhere so anything seems like a luxury.

sort of/not really.  depends on if you are uptight about etching.  not really much of an issue for bathrooms, more for kitchens.

the new caesarstone fake marble (quartz) is pretty amazing looking.  i think it's pretty expensive, but it looks really good.

First floor.

The study on this plan will actually be a 4th bedroom and the dining room will be a study.  Half bath on 1st floor will become full bath.
if you can widen that garage by a couple of feet and/or make it 2-3 feet deeper, you would not regret it. You also wouldn't have to come back to this thread and admit that I was right.

I agree with dobber too but my lot size will not allow for my garage to be any wider.  I have a lot of ways to make more room in the new garage that I didn't in the old one.  For instance, new garage has 10' ceilings and my current garage has 8'. I can build hanging shelves to put things up and out of the way.  Also, I'll have a bigger and more easily accessible attic to store some stuff that I currently have in my garage.
