adidas doesn't have a uniform selection clause in KU's contract.  KU tells adidas what we wear.  Not the other way around.

So this was all KU's idea.  Confirmed.

Officials on Sunday announced an eight-year sponsorship and product-allowance agreement with adidas worth $26.67 million, which breaks out to about $3.33 million per year through 2013.

KU previously was tied to Nike, though the contract only covered football and basketball. That deal, worth $650,000 annually, expires June 30.
