As someone new to baseball, is it possible for a closer to become a consistent starter or whatever they're called? I know Matthys started out last game but could it be a regular thing? And if it is is that common?
At the college level it is really concievable to make the switch, it gets a little harder as older arms get more used to throwing max effort for a short period...I saw in his 1st summer league appearance, Matthys started & went 5 innings. Often the summer league coaches will work with the players college coaches to make sure players are working on things the college wants them to be working on, so that could be a sign that HCBH is looking at making the conversion to SP
