All the hallmarks in one game - good first inning to take the lead, total meltdown by starting pitcher (sixth consecutive poor start by our starting pitchers), dipshittery on the basepaths to take away runs, poor at-bats throughout the game (especially with runners on base), lazy/careless errors in the field...

Maybe this team just needs to feel like its back is against the wall to perform. We'll find out next week.

Boozecats heading to Austin.  Take on UTSA at 7 PM on Friday.  Looks like an easy 3-0 to me.

If we didn't play like dogshit on the road, this regional actually would set up decently.

UTSA played six Q1 games all year (3-3) and their pitching doesn't look too great given who they've played (don't walk a ton, but also don't load up on Ks and they give up a ton of HRs). IF our bats show up (and they didn't last week), this could be a high scoring game given that our starting pitching has been terrible in the last 3 weeks.

Zero expectations, so any win will be great.

No pressure - so just go have fun.

I ain't holding my breath. But it's kind of dreamy to think about the possibility of sending Texas and Arkansas to the clubhouse in back to back years.

VanHorn has won a lot of games and hasn't delivered a CWS title. Texas actually offered Sclossnagle less money out of the gate then he was making at A&M, but that changes after next season when his salary jumps to nearly triple where he started at Texas and almost double what he made at Texas A&M. $2.65 million a year for a baseball coach, damn.

Arkansas has pretty consistently been ending KU's seasons the past few years

This game is a microcosm of our season. We actually get a decent start from our pitcher (2 ER in 5.1 IP) and instead of leaving him in with 2 runners on and 1 out in the fifth, we bring in a reliver with a nearly 9.00 ERA in the last month of the season and a 3-1 game becomes 6-1 in one swing and it's over. For added giggles, our pitching choices then result in 4 more runs through the 7th (including a WP that was so bad it scored 2 runs).

Offensively, plenty of chances, but could never get a key hit. And, of course, that included some horrendous at-bats with runners in scoring position (Dardar striking out on a truly awful pitch that bounced in front of the plate with runners on 2nd/3rd in the 6th was particularly bad).

We gave UTSA their first ever NCAA tourney win today and maybe we'll do it again with HCU tomorrow.

This team just seems like it's ready for this season to be over.

Disappointing end to the season, but there are some nice, young pieces to build around.  To make the tournament with pitching as bad as ours is actually quite promising for the future.

We still have one more game to lose!

Also, we'll lose about 50% of the core of this team going into next year.

Wasn't pretty (especially the continued suckitude of our pen), but a win is a win - something our friends in Lawrence won't experience in NCAAs this year.

ngl I would very much enjoy collecting a Longhorn pelt. Since we don’t have the pitching to win 3 games in 24 hours might as well suicide bomb the horns

In a season full of bad pitching decisions by our coaching staff, starting Duke today instead of Quevedo might be at the top of the list.

We probably lose either way, but likely in a less embarrassing fashion.

Going to need to focus a lot of attention on shoring up the pitching via the portal.
