Outside of Hassall going into meat ball mode, K-State played a good game, no errors, nice relay and tag at the plate, and the bats smacked the Texas ace.

Sounds like we really hammer them if there's no base running issues, which somehow keep being a problem.

So, (known trash boy) Maryland Head Coach Rob Vaughn allowed one of his pitchers to pitch a perfect game. Wouldn't be surprised if that dude needs Tommy John surgery someway down the line. Glad we stayed away from that turd.

A Big 12 road win!

Officially a three-horse race to see who escapes the indignity of being the one team to miss the Big 12 tourney. With three more weekends left, Baylor (5-13) is ahead in wins, followed by our Cats (4-11) and KU (3-12). Baylor's got K-State (a) and Okie State (h) left, while we have KU (h), WVU (a) and Baylor (h) and KU has K-State (a), TCU (h) and Texas (a).

We have the most favorable schedule, particularly considering that we play fairly well at home and like dogshit on the road. But, we also have known loser Pete Hughes calling the shots.

Fun fact: since the league went down to nine playing teams in 2012, KU and K-State are tied for the most seasons not making the tourney with three each. Next on the list? Mighty Texas, which has missed twice (2019, 2013). Tech is the only other team to miss the Big 12 tourney in that stretch (2012).

[Kid In the Hall]

Peggy Po: we take 2-of-3 from KU. We're now in 7th place at 6-12 with two weekends to play (Baylor behind us at 5-13 followed by KU at 4-14). We have Baylor at home this weekend and then at WVU. Baylor has us and then home vs. first place Okie State. KU has home against TCU and at Texas.

Neg Nancy: KU has god awful pitching and we scored 13 runs in 3 games. Entering our series, KU was allowing 10.13 runs PER GAME in Big 12 play.

Barring a miracle run, this year will be the 19th time in Hughes' 22 years of D1 coaching that he will miss the NCAA tourney as well as the 13th time in 22 years he's finished with a losing record in conference play (these don't count 2020 canceled season).

If Hughes makes the Big 12 tourney as a No. 7 or No. 8 seed (we won't get higher than that), does he get another year? Sadly, he probably does.
