Just like Dave Ramsey says, "Rich ppl are allergic to leaves, grab a leaf blower and go knock on some doors".

Guys, out of work 'mericans with leaf blowers are the cure to our stricken economy, deficit, and immigration issues.

Dave Ramsey is full of crap, though. If you want to make any money at all in the lawn care business, you need to have a riding lawn mower and you need to be able to do a yard in less than 20 minutes. If you get paid $20 per lawn and work from 8am to 6pm, that's about $540 per day in a cash-based business, minus fuel and maintenance. That's a pretty good job for a high school kid. The real money comes if you can find some rube who will pay you to adjust sprinkler heads that get out of whack and to fertilize the yard.

Grossing $2700 per week is good. . . for a high school kid?!?!?  If you lived in South Florida that's like $135,000 p/year.

Yeah, but in most areas, a lawn care business is only going to keep you employed a few months out of the year, and fuel and maintenance is a real expense.

It would be easy to mow that many yards but finding that many yards is the hard part. Lots of competition, at least in my area, for landscaping services.

Working for $20 per lawn ($80 per month) will usually beat out the competition. If you are going to go that low, though, you need to find multiple clients on the same block. That way you can knock out 2 yards at once in like 30-35 min. Keep commute times down and work out a schedule where you do a different neighborhood every day, and you can just make a ton of money in a summer.

Yeah, but they are harder to come by. They won't give you the job just because you are cheaper than the pros.
