I saw this quote floating around and it stopped me in my tracksIt called me to repentance and forced a much needed check on my heart ??While I’m not one to discuss politics on social media, I’ll always be one to discuss quite possibly the most controversial man in history- (No, not Donald Trump) I’m talking about Jesus Christ.Just like everyone else - I have MY opinions and convictions when it comes to policies and candidates. I get caught up at times in MY bad attitudes and negativities.... but as a Christian, I’m reminded that it’s not about me.From the moment I confessed Jesus Christ as my savior, it wasn’t about me anymore. I died to myself and am called to view this life from an eternal perspective (which is not natural or easy by the way).Would Jesus speak up for the things He stood for and believed in? Yes - absolutely (AS LONG AS it aligned with the truth of Scripture)Would Jesus hate a person or group of people because in their ignorance they didn’t think the same way He did? NOWould He troll political posts on social media picking fights? NOGuys, We’ve let our emotions win and have lost our focus.Jesus doesn’t see POLICIES, He sees PEOPLE.We are all broken, confused, and lost (or have been at some point) - The Bible calls it Sin.Thank God He didn’t hate us, write us off, or share hateful memes about us on Facebook.Instead, He chose to meet us right where we are (lost and in sin), love us (when we are unlovable), save us (gave up His own life for us) and will teach us His ways (if we seek Him and are willing to listen)- not because we deserve it but because He is Good. He is love. The next time we feel hate and anger welling up in our heart and about to flow from our mouths (or our finger tips 👩?💻 ) let’s remember to take a step back and see people as Jesus sees them.
