They don't rank the top 16 teams based on who went to the Sweet Sixteen.  Like I've said, I would expect you guys to know this, but you haven't been here before, so I'll let it slide.

Look, rankings don't matter after the tourney starts.
KU in 1988 was a fringe top 25 team. ( 6 seed )
Every single higher seed was upset before KU had to play them. (I.E. All the heavy lifting was done by some other team)
KU got the game of a lifetime from a scrub who was only on the team beacuse his dad was a NBA legend. (Scooter Barry).
Larry Brown out coached roll out the ball and let them play Billy Tubbs in a one game all or nothing final and the rest is history.
KSU was a better team than KU in 1988 and it wasn't that close, but it doesn't really matter because they finished the season better than KSU.

This year KU beat KSU 3 times in a row.
KU had a better team than K-State, and it doesn't matter because no matter how this season ends, KSU had a better season than KU!

For the record Cornell, Northern Iowa, Washington, Butler, Xavier, Purdue, Baylor & K-State all >> than KU this year.

Also loved the poor girl at the bar who bitched at me about how K-State fans are a bunch of dicks, claimed to have gone to K-State, and yet was still sore about how the games turned out.  TOUGH BREAK KIDS!  Next time cheer for your school, not your bandwagon!

Also, wasn't uofk's record vs the S16 teams 5-2, while K-State went 3-0?

Take out the conf W/L's (or just W's for ksu) and uofk was 1-2 and K-State 1-0.

Maybe the B12 is weak...

Upsets happen in a one-and-done tournament.  It's just the nature of the beast.

It's ok, buddy. There's always next year  :dunno:

This is your first Sweet Sixteen appearance since 1988.  I would tell you to act like you've been there before, but you haven't, so feel free to keep making yourself look like an idiot.

The "act like you've been there before" has to be one of my favorite ku talking points in the last 48 hours.  Heard it about 50 times, yet no one is quite sure what it means.  It is right up there with "I know you are but what am I" and "takes one to know one".  This is beautiful.

My other favorite talking point is how angry they are that we took an interest in an exciting basketball game that was taking place in front of us.  I guess we're just suppossed to sit on our hands and be perfectly silent.  I would say 90% of the K-State fans in the arena didn't cheer one way or the other until the last 2 minutes.  At that point, all of America was into the game.  Get over yourself BMW and ku fans.

There's something to this.  I screamed like a maniac for and against Old Dominon as they closed the gap against Baylor Saturday.  Wanted Baylor to win for conference pride and all that, but wanted an amazing game more.

Same for ODU-Notre Dame, Texas-Wake, etc. etc.  Hard not to cheer and whatnot in these situations.

Exactly. For most of the game I wasn't cheering one way or the other, maybe even a little pro-KU. But when UNI was still up with under 2 minutes to go, all bets were off. It was too exciting not to root for the underdog.

The fact that you guys celebrated like it was the national championship after KU lost tells me all I need to know about your inferiority complex.  Thanks for validating yourselves as a bunch of low self-esteem losers.

Were you there?  KSU fans were laughing.....we celebrated after we won.  Big difference.

Yeah... there were four or five douchebag K-State fans a couple rows in front of me, and they literally started screaming and hugging each other after the KU game was officially over.  It was quite a sight to behold, and it reminded me why I consider myself lucky to have been raised a KU fan. I honestly wanted to stay and watch the K-State/BYU game, but I would have probably been arrested and thrown into an Oklahoma City jail for aggravated assault.

I don't think you can go to jail for getting your ass kicked...  Maybe attempted assault? :dunno:  Idk, maybe it's just my thought but argyle sweaters really restrict range of motion when it comes to fighting.  Just ask steve dave how the sweater wearing pussies fare an the bi-annual fighting you related threads.

Yeah Beems if say, in the same regional, you had Kansas and Missouri, and MU had a 1 seed, you can't possibly tell me that you wouldn't be celebrating your ass off if MU lost to a 9th-seeded Akron or Idaho or somebody like that. Every KU fan would.

Great question.  Was dumb founded that every last one of them balled like a man of taste and distinction.  Seriously thought that one might be a man and say something like, "hey, we had a great year but these things just happen."  Didn't happen though.  They all balled like queers.  :bawl:

Just a side note; I know we'll have players that cry if we lose or even if we win the whole thing but doubt it will be the whole team..
Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

The way I look at it with my lbbiq, uk wasn't out-played, out-talented, or even out-coached. They simply played like they didn't give a $hit until the end of the game when they realized they very well could be playing their last game. However, they didn't realize that UNI was going to react as calmly to the pressure as they did. If they would have played like they cared for the whole game, they would have put up numbers like Kentucky did against Wake

How does it make you feel that your best team ever, with your best player ever, isn't even in the top 16 teams in the country?

Like Coach Self said after the game, those players are the ones who created the high expectations.  They're the ones who went out and went 33-2 and convinced everyone that they were the best team in the country.  Obviously they were a bit overrated, and they probably overachieved a little bit this season.  I can't say I'm really that surprised that they lost to Northern Iowa, though.  It's just the nature of the NCAA tournament... sometimes a team is just better on that given night.
wow self is a class act. not my fault blame the players.

You are turning into quite the turncoat brown-nosing pussy.  I wouldn't celebrate after a Mizzou loss... I might sit there and chuckle a little bit, but I wouldn't celebrate like KU had just won a national title.  Maybe you've been in Texas too long to realize that KU fans are different than K-State fans... there's an inferiority complex that comes into play with K-State fans.  Not sure if you've noticed, but KU has been kicking their ass for years now.

In order to "choke" you have to be highly seeded.  KU's consistent level of success sets them up for these type of games in the tournament.  One would think K-State would realize just how hard it is to win in the NCAA tournament, given that this is your first Sweet Sixteen since 1988, but no, you guys don't have the first clue on how to win with class.
